- First check "Enable POP3 e-mail checker"
- "E-mail address" is clear I think? :)
- "Server": here you place the pop3 server of your e-mail provider.
- "Login & password": here you place your login name and password
- "E-mail client or link": here you choose what to open when you click the toast that says you have got new e-mail.

Hotmail is NOT a pop3 mailprovider....

In order to use the Plus! pop3 function, you need POP3 emails, not webbased (HTTP) emails....

Hotmail addresses are not POP based. You can use Hotmail Popper to check Hotmail as if it were a POP account.

Download Hotmail Popper.

  1. Open the zip file and extract the one file that's in it.
  2. Open the file you just extracted, installation will begin.
  3. Click Next
  4. Choose program folder, click Next
  5. Choose when to start Hotmail Popper (both enabled recommended)
  6. Click Next
  7. A flame icon will be added to the taskbar (next to the clock)
  8. Right click that icon
  9. Choose Help
  10. Scroll to How do I use it, and follow the instructions
  1. Now, to set up the checking in Messenger Plus!:
  2. Go to the Preferences, POP mail section
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Enter your username (part before @hotmail.com) and password
  5. Enter 127.0.0.1 as POP3 server
Basically, that's how you can set it up.

You would think that patchou would be able to program it to support hotmail, I mean it is msn messenger. Its not that its not possible although maybe its harder then I think. Anyway It could be a thought for futur versions.

RE: Pop3 email by marissa on 07-15-2004 at 01:04 AM

I think they mean that, it'll automatically tell you when you recieve an email with out having to put it in pop3.

errrr, u can set alerts for msn to tell u whenever u get a hotmail email and MsgPlus tells u when u get  POP3 so i reli dunno wut else u want here, Hotmail is fully built into msn
