Error 0x81000302 by ^_^ on 07-04-2004 at 01:32 AM

My msn is totally messed up.... i have xp and when i get on my profile and open msn messenger and try to sign in it says that im not connected (i have cable) error  0x81000302....... and when i get on my brothers profile and open msn and try to sign in  it works..........it only happens when im on my profile... how is that possible?? i mean its the same computer how come i cant sign in when im on my profile?? :@ i have tryed everything (reinstall, system restore) what else can i doż?

RE: Error 0x81000302 by MessEnGer on 07-04-2004 at 02:13 AM

reinstalling , system restore or anything else is not gonna help so don't wack your brains

for ones having problems the best solution is to use another client for the time being.

i think it is the server that your email i.e. your passport  is registered on to use msn messenger (i have the same problem)

a few servers are having troubles

but u can connect to ur messenger using clients like trillian , integrity messenger etc and it will work just fine ....

i don't know why but i also have the feeling it has something to do only with windows xp .... (i maybe wrong here)

the msn status website has said tht the service is experiencing difficulties ...

which says

Sign In
The .NET Messenger Service is temporarily experiencing difficulty. You may be unable to sign in. Please try again later.
Last Update: 7/3/2004 6:06:00 PM Pacific Time (GMT -8:00)

so lets hope its resolved asap and we can start using msn messenger and Msgplus :)

Everything I just posted was for the wrong issue. Yours is Invalid Server, I posted for Invalid Password. Check the link above for resolution.

From the link above, it seems that it was mostly resolved by Restoring Defaults in Internet Explorer :S

I wonder what server your messenger client is trying to use...
Run the attached app and then reply with what the server is.

Have you used a Server Changer? Or are you using a proxy? If not then the server should be messenger.hotmail.com;207.46.104.20:1863

(but since its looking on a port on your specific computer you are running a proxy, make sure that the proxy, if its an App is running when you try and connect)

Run the registry file that is within the zip file attached.

Here are the contents of it.
code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger]
"ProxyType"=hex:01,00,00,00
"SOCKS4Port"=hex:42,04,00,00
"SOCKS4Server"="127.0.0.1"
"Server"="messenger.hotmail.com;207.46.104.20:1863"

This will just reset the Proxy and the Server settings in MSN Messenger

Your registry is fine... Did you run the reg file that i attached?

Also check this place in the registry
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-790525478-1935655697-1801674531-1003\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger]

Make sure that the settings I posted in my above post are the same in yours.

Edit: I am going to bed for the night, I will check back here in the morning when I wake up.

Good Luck everyone.

If you are not a Computer Administrator on the computer then you wont be able to Make Changes to certain parts of the Registry HKEY_USERS for example.

But again Glad I could help out.
