Quicktime by user27089 on 07-11-2004 at 02:27 PM

I have a kodak digital camera, and it saves the movies as *.mov, and the only player that can play these is QuickTime...

and my quicktimes isn't working, i've tried to convert these .mov's into .wmv's etc. but the program i used leaves an add in the center of the screen! Whenever i start up quicktime it says an error has happened and shuts down. I'm not sure what to do, does anybody know what to do?

either post the url for a .mov convertor or tell me how i can get quicktime to stop doing this?? i've redownloaded quicktime multiple times.

could be something in the registry. some programs dont remove registry keys when unistalled.  try looking around the registry.

I know you've said that you've redownloaded it several times, but I'm guessing, from the error that it's version 6 your using. I too have a Kodak camera and the movies worked no problem (however I did have version 6.3). The most recent version is 6.5. Try downloading that and see how it goes.

Just convert your files to .avi try this site, you might get some help.
http://www.videohelp.com/mov2avi.htm
good luck

ps. doesnt your you camera give you the option in what kind of quality or file you want to save it as?

I don't think the camera does give you the choice ( I not sure coz I lost the instructions).
To look in the registry you have to go
Start ==> Run ==> regedit

If all else fails......http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm.......it allows you to play *.mov files in Windows Media Player.
