Sound Plugins by fas on 07-12-2004 at 02:36 AM

Hi all,

I'm just wondering how the sound-plugins work (e.g. Audiator).
I mean, I know how to play a sound. But how does the plugin send a sound/recognize a received sound?

Thanks!

Not to open a new thread, here another question:

How does MSN Plus work? I mean even with the Messenger Lib I couldn't catch the text the user is sending (I tried to, but I can't find any controls/handles inside DirectUIHWND...). Does it have any other interfaces to MSN? Am I stupid? :D

Bye

Ok i'm running 6.2 messenger with 3.01 plus
i've downloaded sound plugin's

matix
simpson's
and
southpark

i also downloaded the patch for the simpson's & Southpark

but as yet i haven't been able to get them to go think i've done something wrong
Cause the matrix sound list appears
and the simpson's & southpark but no sound and no fault message
but when i goto the plugin folder & click on the installer patch for SP & simpson sounds it says couldn't open DLL file on both

*-) Hmm now hopper's playing up to

I believe they use the notifications of the plus! api

Mine certainly do, as does Audiator.

To find info on ITextServices, search MSDN for it.

windowsless controls don't have a window handle (in vb hWnd property). they are configured using COM i think.

Thanks for helping @all.

Does MSN Plus has official promotion of MSN that it can for example extend the maximal length of a message? I don't have an idea of how i would manage to do this...

First, it's Messenger Plus, not MSN Plus.
Second, Plus is not an official product of MSN, and it never will be AFAIK. This is, of course, a good thing.

You say the Matrix sound list appears, but no sound comes out? And you get no error messages? In that case, I can't think of anything but a problem with your sound hardware. It may sound stupid, but make sure all your volumes are above zero, and that everything is on and working.
The alternative is to reinstall the plugins from the downloads at http://plugins.msgplus.net

That is nor good, nor bad... If it was from MS, it would have features that it hasn't gotten now... On the other hand, it could have bugs etc.
RE: Sound Plugins by trev on 07-13-2004 at 06:15 PM

for the simpsons and southpark sound packes you need to use something else called the "Whacko Sound Patcher" get it from here

They wouldn't dare charge for it, as Yahoo and AOL don't charge for theirs.
RE: Sound Plugins by SIR GTI-R on 07-14-2004 at 05:11 AM

MSN messenger sorry &

yep the volume is up :D & i've got the sound patcher for southpark and the simpsons

matrix , southpark , simpsons
all do the same are shown in list but if selected make no sound and drop no message in to window like it should

how do i uninstall all the plugins and i'll redownload them
Tryed to delete them last night but it wouldn't let me tryed going through add/remove programs but none showed there :S

i'll dump the whole thing and redownload the whole lot if i have to

just checked the std sounds the come with plus they don't work either ?

RE: Sound Plugins by RaceProUK on 07-14-2004 at 04:02 PM

In order to delete the plugins, you need to close Messenger down first.
When you say they don't make a sound and drop no message, does anything appear in the area you type in? If so, then just hit Send, and they should work.

RE: Sound Plugins by SIR GTI-R on 07-15-2004 at 06:17 AM
