MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by Hah on 07-14-2004 at 09:37 PM

Hey all,

I got bored again, and I've made a basic Internet Explorer MsgPlus! Toolbar to which I will add more features if people like it.

EDIT Again:

Updated zip file to latest version, features:

You can search the forum.
Navigate to:

  • Forum Latest Posts
  • Login Page
  • Forum Home
  • Msgplus.net
with the click of a button.

You can also open the shoutbox as it is normally with the click of a button (you will be a guest if not logged in.)

You will need VB runtime files installed. This has only been tested on two pc's running Windows XP, but may work on others, please let me know.

This version can be considered a trial project.

Tah,

Hah (thomasgreenwood@2die4.com)

Hah, it would be better if you changed the setup.zip in your first post to the latest one, would be easier for people to download it :).

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.326 By Hah by Kryptonate on 07-14-2004 at 11:28 PM

Hah, could you make the shoutbox button open a new window like when you normally click the shoutbox link?

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.326 By Hah by king_of_cool_kids on 07-14-2004 at 11:29 PM

Can we have the ability to change the site?? Like switch from msgplus to my own and someone else etc?? Like a favourites list?? That would be a good feature

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.326 By Hah by RebelSean on 07-14-2004 at 11:33 PM

The plugin/thingy is made for messenger plus forums. Not any other site. :undecided:

Ya can you do that. I was about to post that but ya beat me kryptonate!
RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.326 By Hah by king_of_cool_kids on 07-14-2004 at 11:39 PM

ok, well, is it possible though??

This is how it would work:

a) During install, it would ask for a name for the toolbar. This will be the name at the start of the toolbar.
b) next it would ask for the root directory eg: http://www.site.com/Forum/
c) next it would ask if you want to add any more, selecting yes will bring up the prevous two steps
d) It will finilise everthign and it do all the other things needed.
e) To change site, from a drop down menu on the right of the toolbar, select the name of the site (which is made during install) and click {Change...}, then it will ask you to close and reopen Ie for the setting to take effect. When it does, the new toolbar for the site is ready.

I think its posible :) If it is can you make it please??

Also, to go even futher, the ability to customise where the links are and to upload you own image :)

Possible but to much coding for the moment.
Going to bed at the moment, will redo the shoutbox code tomorrow to open in a new window. Also has no one noticed the Alt+{etc} keys dont work on it! - will look at that as well tomorrow

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.326 By Hah by king_of_cool_kids on 07-15-2004 at 12:10 AM

Never say never - Once I get some more time on my hands or I get bored again I might do.

Also, shoutbox now opens in new window, see first post for update.
RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by Dane on 07-15-2004 at 02:27 AM

Good Job Hah.  I dunno if theres a way, but if you can set the background to the bluebar in the QuickReply Box that'd be kool.

Let me know if you have any issues ;)

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by king_of_cool_kids on 07-15-2004 at 07:28 AM

How do I install?? Can you put the directory of where ut the file on your site please??

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by ddunk on 07-15-2004 at 07:30 AM

I assume you're talking to chris:

Just download and run the file, then restart FF. Once it's open again, go to View > Toolbars, and it should be there.

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by king_of_cool_kids on 07-15-2004 at 07:36 AM

I can't run it, when I double click it says: Windows can't find this file, choose a program to open with. :/

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by Pyroteq on 07-15-2004 at 07:39 AM

i just started using firefox as a secondary browser.

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by ddunk on 07-15-2004 at 07:39 AM

Ok, try opening Tools > Extensions and drag and drop the xpi file there.

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by king_of_cool_kids on 07-15-2004 at 07:45 AM

Awesome. Now running. Much better design then the IE one, sorry Hah.

Lets see who can make the mutliple site idea come to life first.....

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by surfichris on 07-15-2004 at 11:36 AM

I dont think i'm going to do that, but i am going to make a toolbar for several sites, possibly and maybe some sort of interface into MyBB or something..

This was pretty much an experiment to see if i could actually use XUL and everything.

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by Kryptonate on 07-15-2004 at 11:48 AM

looks good Surfi (y). Could you make it possible that when you click on a button with your middle mouse button, it opens in a new tab?

RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by surfichris on 07-15-2004 at 11:50 AM

Possibly, i don't use a three button mouse so i wouldnt be able to test it :-/

well, if I click with the wheel of my mouse on a link it opens in a new tab, so something like that or when you right click the button a list in which you can choose to open in a new window or a new tab.
RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by Millenium_edition on 07-15-2004 at 12:21 PM

you sure you're talking about Surfi's toolbar? :-/, because <plusicon>.net is in the toolbar for IE, not in Surfi's, in his toolbar it's "Messenger Plus! Website".
RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by Millenium_edition on 07-15-2004 at 01:16 PM

no i'm not talking about surfi's toolbar. :P
look at the first post :D

surfi's toolbar has links to search, msgplus.net, forum home, forum login, latest posts, shoutbox, msgplus news, msgplus downloads, msgplus help and user cp (but you need FF for it:))
RE: MsgPlus! Toolbar v1.0.0.335 By Hah by jren207 on 07-16-2004 at 11:08 PM

For the IE bar..,

I would be good if the bar remembered the ..say... last 10 search terms.

And also, if when it's on XP the buttons are like rounded (3D, like the standard buttons)

I like the bar anywayz, it's cool

I wouldn't really call it an issue with the toolbar, the toolbar uses javascript to open a new window exactly how these forums do.. but i will look into it.

Surfi, i'm loving your bar, I used too love IE, but I switched to Firefox, and when i saw that it was only for IE my heart leapt, then I read your post, You're a life saver.

I think this is a really good extension, and i'm going too use it a lot, so thanks Surfi, keep up the good work!
