FEATURE REQUEST by akaris on 07-21-2004 at 07:01 PM

Hi Patchou!

I have a simple feature request for you! It would be REALLY nice to be able to remove the big useless blue thing which is just under the menu bar of the main MSN Messenger contact window (you know, the thing that displays your status and nickname, with the big status logo and arrow to change it).

(see the red square on my screenshot!)

Do you think it would be possible? Give me feedback!

Thanks,

Here it is. Tell me if it works.

Instructions for installing:
-Extract everything into the same directory.
-Copy dscwpmsg.dll into your system directory.
-Apply the registry patch.
-Restart MSN Messenger.

NOTE: the readme for dscwpmsg.dll tells you not to move it to the system directory... I don't know why. But there's one thing i know: it won't work if you put it into the application directory.

Hi!

Thanks for the plugin... but I just can't get it working!
Here's what I've done:

    - Copied HTUBTPlugin.dll/HTUBTPlugin.lib in C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\Plugins
    - regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\Plugins\HTUBTPlugin.dll
    - copied dscwpmsg.dll in C:\WINDOWS\system32
    - run Regpatch.reg
    - killed MSN/MsgPlus
    - restarted everything; checked the plugin in the Plugins config section of MsgPlus ............... restarted everything again .......

nothing :(
doesn't work!

what am I doing wrong!?

Thanks,

Hmm,

It works, but if you close the contact windows (minimize to tray) and re-open it, the UBT re-appears!

Select the dll in explorer, press CTRL+C. Now go to Start > Run and type "%windir%\system32", click OK. Press CTRL+V. If you're using Windows 9x, then you should type "C:\Windows\System" (where C is the letter of the drive in which Windows is installed).

k, i did that and its still normal

RE: FEATURE REQUEST by akaris on 07-23-2004 at 12:09 PM

Hi Matthew!

Try rebooting! I've got to reboot to get it working... be sure the plugin is CHECKED in your plugins sections of the Plus! config! The problem is also that the blue thing re-appears when you restore the contact window from the system tray; so you might try to check the option "Open messenger window ..." in the General section of the MSN options; just to be sure it works!

Good luck :)

lol i'd work on this but now i'm on vacation (3 weeks...) so i can't work on it :(

furthermore, hooking the treeview is damn annoying if you haven't got the handle

RE: FEATURE REQUEST by Matthew_wehttaM on 07-24-2004 at 04:19 PM

when i go into the plugins configuration for plus, theres nothing to check

you dont have to download the plug-in you can just go to 'tools' and click 'show actions pane' (so that it is not checked)

That is not what he is talking about... Look at the picture posted by Akaris and ME, and you would know what they are talking about.... They want to hide the top part of MSN Messenger, where it shows your name and status and stuff... not the bottom one with the actions.... :D...

Wow ME, this looks cool, I'll try it now, but can't wait until the next release.... It's going to be great!!!
