I have Win Mess 6.2.  I set up a web cam and it works fine but I can not talk to or hear people.  The mike indicator goes up and down but my contacts can not hear me. I can hear myself through my speakers.

Can anyone help.

Are your contacts speakers on?

Does your contact have the microphone volume up?

Perhaps a router could be stopping him from receiving the voice?

hehe, that's the problem. You have to open the needed ports in the (firewall of the) router. They're 6890 to 6899.. but i'm not sure. I'd suggest you to search them. There's a thread where all the ports needed by messenger are detailed.

However, if you router supports UPnP, you may want to enable it. Doing that you won't need to open any port. ;)

nope, that's for file transfers and that's not even used when you send a file to another MSN Messenger (6.x), only with Win Messenger... ;)

Anyways, here is a detailled post (and thread), like Kao suggested there, try using NetMeeting or VideoConference instead if you want both video and audio. (the video quality will be better also)
