What Windows version are you using? You could use SFC (system file checker).

If you have XP go to your "config panel", then "software", then "add/remove windows components" (note: I do not mean add/remove programs, although this is in the same dialog)...
There select "bureau-accesoires" and press on details...
Again "bureau-accesoires" and press on details...
And there you'll find "Paint", select it and press the ok buttons

In other Windows versions this is almost the same...

PS: names aren't literal as I don't have an english windows version...

are u sure it's uninstalled? maybe u just deleted the shortcuts, try going to run then typing in
"mspaint" and click ok, just to make sure. i'm not accusing u of being stupid it's just that i thought i'd uninstalled it and it just ended up that i'd lost the shortcuts.

The program is not called Paint.exe, it is actually Pbrush.exe.
Do Start | Run... | pbrush

its called mspaint.exe - it doesnt need installed to run, it'll run as a standalone executable

RE: Paint..WTF Help? by RebelSean on 08-01-2004 at 07:20 PM

Scone, put the mspaint.exe in your c://windows directory and your shortcuts should work if you still have them on your start/programs/accessories....:d

:dodgy:

Sorry, to blow from the high tower, but just do as I say.

1) It is the only proper way...
2) Each Windows version has his own version of paint...
3) Copying the exe and running it wont fix all the registry keys (yes there are many keys!)...

Or even better, restore it with SFC:

If you have Windows XP:
Go to Start > Run, type "sfc /scannow" and press enter.

If you have Windows 9x:
Go to Start > Run, type "sfc" and press enter.
Select the second checkbox ("Extract a file..") and write "mspaint.exe" in the textbox. Click Start.
In the "Restore from" textbox, write the location from where you installed Windows, or insert the Windows CD and write the path to the CD drive.
In the "Save file in" textbox, write "X:\Program files\Accesories" (where X: is the drive where Windows is installed).
