Umm why would you want old versions? The old versions are realy buggy and thats why they have been updated to the current version...
RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by Choli on 07-31-2004 at 04:51 PM

and not only buggy, but also plus 1.x doesn't work with messenger 6 and plus 2.x (except the last) doesn't work with the last messenger 6.x

RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by Millenium_edition on 07-31-2004 at 05:36 PM

plus 1.00 - 1.20 are not recommended simply because they replaced the messenger EXE...

I don't think that's true. Plus 1.x (all versions, the same as 2.x and 3.x) don't touch the exe
RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by Dane on 07-31-2004 at 08:34 PM

Ah, I have a few versions i've collected.  I've only been able to get my hands on one version of MsgPlus 1.x, which is 1.20 (the really buggy one that Patchou shortly replaced due to a horrible bug)

RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by CookieRevised on 08-01-2004 at 07:03 AM

I don't think he wants to use them.... Like Dane and me, he proberly just wants to collect them... I have 71 versions of Plus! including private beta builds, or 44 public versions....

I'm not reluctend to send them to you because A) they can't be made public for obvious reasons, B) because I don't know you (no offense), C) also because I don't want to upload 200Mb of otherwise useless versions, D) and because I had a very hard time in collecting them (and verifying that they are not tampered with) :p

As far as I know Plus! has always just hooked into MSN Messenger...I don't think they ever changed the .exe, that would have made it incompatible with every new MSN Messenger build, not just the odd one, Patchou wouldn't do that...

Nope I counted my list... and it would be more if I had all the public versions :p
RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by Patchou on 08-02-2004 at 05:03 AM

No, no, Millenium is right. Plus! never modified the Messenger EXE but it replaced it by its own and renamed Messenger's one. It was a different hooking technique, I experimented a lot before I find a good, solid way to do what I wanted. That's why I don't want any of you to install anything below 1.20 (and anyway, if you want to give version 1 a try, why not installing 1.42 directly? :)).

RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by Dane on 08-02-2004 at 05:09 AM

* Dane was swapping versions with Cookie lastnight

I have them only for archival purposes...its fun collecting them but the originals are HARD to find.  You should see what Cookie subjects his old versions to...too make sure that they're real :p.  I wish there was just a large database of them, it'd be so much easier.

RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by Patchou on 08-04-2004 at 05:15 AM

If that really interests you I'll upload all the versions (the public ones) on my server when I'll have my desktop computer back... I still have Plus! 1.00 Beta 1... if you can install it without getting an error, you win a prize ;).

RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by marissa on 08-04-2004 at 05:58 AM

:banana: shall do:P It'll be interesting seeing how plus came along, Patchou did some fine work.:)

That'll be awsome!  Thanks.  Cookies collection will be complete too.  We're in the process of "Sharing versions" that we both have.  It's really fun but on 56k takes forever to upload.  Anywayz, ours is in a password-protected domain. :P.

i got a rare DXtremz build :lol:
RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by DXtremz on 08-06-2004 at 04:20 AM

I have a folder on one of my hard drives called "Plus Betas" It's got tons in it, Private Beta's and stuff, and one just for me \o/ Patchou put "DX Special" in the About box, cuz I was having specific issues during a beta period :p... I had 4 different "DX Special" version, 3 of which no one else has \o/ (@ chrono :p). I'd share em, but I doubt Patchou would want that, besides, they crashed MSN 6.0 every couple of seconds, I'm sure they'd be worse with 6.2!

RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by Chrono on 08-06-2004 at 05:26 AM

go lets share'em all!! :lol:
i have a pic of sock's build too :P

hi, i was gonna post a new thread but then i saw this one. Basically, something about the newest plus version seems to make my computer totally freeze alot, so i had to uninstall it. Is there anywhere i can get the version from before this newest update? i looked about the site but couldnt find it.

The newest is 3.01.94, so here's the two previous versions...

http://shoutbox.menthix.net/files/MsgPlus-300.exe (3.00.92 - May 23)

http://shoutbox.menthix.net/files/MsgPlus-25475.exe (2.54.75 - April 22)
RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by Rummy on 08-11-2004 at 01:52 PM

Nice! :D

Sure didn't have a heck of a lot of features back then... :P
I can see that Patchou even included an e-mail address for comments back then. With today's 5 millions users, putting an e-mail in the software would result in complete chaos. I can understand why he doesn't do so anymore. ;-)

RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by -dt- on 09-17-2004 at 10:03 AM

lol patchou should sell "limited" edition cd sets of plus versions then all you mad collectors can have a cool looking cd with all the different plus versions on it and patch is making some extra $$$

I agree! I would have one of those in a heart beat :p
RE: Old Vertions Of MsgPlus?? by CookieRevised on 09-17-2004 at 03:54 PM

If he sells a CD (useless, because you can't do anything anymore with the old versions), then there is no "fun" anymore in "collecting"....

lol, a mug would be nice, to keep my coffee hot :D

I had more problems with

"MP! 2 Alpha Version.zip" (v2.00.(01?)), "Messenger Plus! 2.00 - ALPHA VERSION - 24/11/2002"
and
"Chrono.exe" (v2.21.631), "Messenger Plus! 2.21.631 - October 12th 2003 - DEBUG"

v2.00 had a nice expire function which I didn't noticed at first... (btw, what was script tracing for?)
and Chrono's private build v2.21.631 couldn't be installed, I had to extract the files from the setup myself...

:P
RE: Old versions of MsgPlus?? by CookieRevised on 09-29-2004 at 08:46 PM

Here the promised version archive list to check some versions of Plus! (including beta's, etc...)

You can use this list to verify your "version archive". The best way in doing this is to calculate the CRC32 of the setupfile and compare it to the list. If you have any info which isn't in the list, feel free to PM me.

Tools for calculating the CRC32 can be found all over the internet. (tip: with winzip you can zip the setupfile and if you look inside the archive, it will show you the crc32 also.)

To know what the various tables mean, read the legend-tab...

Latest update: 23th October 2004.
Previous file has been downloaded 42 time(s).

Don't you remember that I originally wanted to make Messenger Plus! 2.00 entirely scriptable? I finally gave up for many reasons, including the fact that I preferto target a wider audience and not only attrack linux geeks ;). It doesn't mean I will never add scripting though, I continue to think about it, but the plugin api is what I found to be the best thing for now (security is very important).

To know the true version number you need to look in the about screen.

See my Archive Version List as reference....

Your versions:
2.00.017 <== this must be 2.01.17
2.20.000 <== doesn't make sense, the build number must be between 41 and 42
2.21.000 <== doesn't make sense, the build number must be between 54 and 64
2.21.057 <== build 57 or 57a ?
2.50.000 <== this must be 2.50.066
2.51.000 <== doesn't make sense, the build number must be between 68 and 71...
2.51.000 <== ...(and even then there are many versions of 2.51)
2.54.000 <== doesn't make sense, the build number must be 74 or 75
3.00.000 <== doesn't make sense, the build number must be between 81 and 93
3.01.092 <== doesn't make sense, the build of 3.01 started at 94
3.20.000 <== doesn't make sense, the build number must be 100

And as you can see in my list, there are many versions for the same buildnumber also. So just giving the version number is not enough to identify which version you got! Provide the CRC32 checksum of each setup file and compare them to my list to identify your versions!

Also note that you may only share public versions!

(Search google for tools to create a CRC32 checksum...)

Is there some way to incorporate the "My patience has its limits" sound from v 2.00/2.54 (i.e. the angry anime chick) into v3.00, or some how give the user a way to choose?

I really like that sound over the western one.
