XP Home Edition Vs. XP Pro by BluexDreams on 08-11-2004 at 07:43 AM

I'm going to format my computer. And i don't know which one to choose. Actually, im not sure of the difference between them. I know that XP Pro is good for business people, though it is my Os System at the moment.

So which one would you prefere and why?

I always like XP Pro, its more stable and less errors.

It's good for any one really, hardly any business stuff in XP Pro.

XP Pro is also good for games, if you play games :P and less bugs in it.

XP Pro is the way to go (Y)   (Bad Joke ^o))

If I had been consulted when my parents bought my PC I would have chosen Pro. But I wasn't and now i'm stuck with my shitty Home Edition.

TBH, for the normal use "Pro" doesn't give you anything extra.... All extra features in "Pro" are almost all only usefull if you're running a network with more users....

if ur planning on paying for it, get home. its alot cheaper, and the bennifits arn't worth the difference.

but the only version of XP that u can DL is pro.

thats it for the discussion of pirating stuff.

It doesn't really matter with me what's cheaper and what's not more than how much it matters what's better than what's not.

I've got a XP Home edition right here on the table, but i was afraid that i might not like it. So i told my self i'll see what others think. Guess i'll end up again with XP Pro ^^

I don't know, I know myself there are times when encrypting folders and files would be useful...however I'm sure there's software to substitute

theres nothing that u won't like about XP Home. its a fine operating system. Pro just has some features which are a bit more advanced.

Well, the Windows Home Edition is technically not much diffrent from the Pro Edition. It's more that the home edition has some things especially related to networking made simpler and left out a few advanced settings. The Pro Edition is a bit more complicated, but has more settings.

So it depends on your own whishes what is personally better for you. If you don't do that much on your network and don't use the Windows Encryption it is really not worth the money to buy the Pro version.
