Technology in 25 years. by .blade// on 08-14-2004 at 09:24 PM

Simple question: Where do you think technology will be in 25 years? Me personally - I believe there will be some form or another of hymanoid robots (not necissarily all that smart ones), along with some for of 3D imaging (e.g. holograms). I also believe a form of helicopters will be used more, and less and less of vehicles will still use gasoline (as we know it). I think almost everything will use a computer of some kind aswell.

I think Microsoft will be no more in that form (rather a merge or bought out) and I think Plus! will still own :refuck:...;)

What about you?

RE: Technology in 25 years. by RebelSean on 08-14-2004 at 09:27 PM

I think that there will be like super computers, that can do anything. I think we will have cars that can float and ride in the air like airplanes. I also think that there we will be on another planet, living in a different lifestyle. I think that Microsoft will still be there, but will be the second best. With new companys that own microsoft. And Plus! will still own!:)

The Maglev train that can travel at the speed of light! More information on it here

Here's an assignment I recently did on advances in technology, and how/where they could be used. I based mine on the matchbox web server which is essentially a fully functional web server the size of a matchbox. Other students in the class did a wide range of topics such as Biometrics, Robots etc.

http://surfionline.com/random/ipt_matchboxserver.pdf

There's alot we have to look forward to in the future... :)

Yes, but it's hard to get in. It's where developers usually debut upcomming games, and you can play them (usually) and try out new thingsl ike the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS.

I sometimes take the hovercraft to the Isle of Wight to see my cousin, going on it again on friday cos he can't figure out his new 3G phone, lol.  At least 1 commercial hovercraft is operational & the Army, Navy & the Marines use them aswell so there are quite a few here and working.

RE: Technology in 25 years. by user27089 on 08-15-2004 at 12:36 PM

We already have cars that can run on water/hydrogen, but when they are auctioned off, what usually happens is that the gasoline companies buy them and just trash them, as all they want is money. So if something is threatening their company, then they try and stop the threat by all means possible.

I personally think that cars will run on hydrogen ;)

RE: Technology in 25 years. by BEWARE^^ on 08-15-2004 at 12:38 PM

RE: Technology in 25 years. by s7a5 on 08-16-2004 at 03:26 AM

-there will be robots
-there will be cars with autopilot that will maintain speeds @ 200 + km/h
-everything will be computerized (cells, cars, gas stations etc)
-the music will be pure electronic (will its happening now)
-karl's marx theories will come true :)
and more

RE: Technology in 25 years. by matty on 08-16-2004 at 03:46 AM

Too lazy to read all the posts but here it is anyways. Adidas is the first company to... add a computer chip into their shoes. Now what purpose would this serve and who would use it. Well simply Runners would. Now the computer chip wont be automatic the user will need to enter in information into it for the shoes to compensate. Now basically the chip will change the density of the shoes and the amount of pressure so to speak put on your feet when you run. So if you put into the chip your running on gravel then it will change and make it seem like your running on air.

Gotta love knowing people in Sports Stores that sell shoes :)

Gas=petrol wich is some kind of fuel that is pumped up from the sea...

And by the way... I think that the computer is dead in 25 years... OR that it is controlling the entire world and we cant get rid of it...:S

Yeah, pulse your walking amount...this is already being thought about with step-o-meters...:p
I believe MP3's will become the standard media format that everyone uses...tapes will not be used, and you will only be able to buy CDs with MP3s on and all CD players will play MP3s...

RE: Technology in 25 years. by s7a5 on 08-16-2004 at 08:03 PM

what i mean by electronic is that the all music will be synthisezed
and yes irobot has many true things that we'll see in few decades

RE: Technology in 25 years. by user27089 on 08-16-2004 at 08:05 PM

I don't think this world will be taken over by anything in the form of robots or computers for hundreds of years, we just won't have enough technology to do this.

RE: Technology in 25 years. by Moo on 08-16-2004 at 10:38 PM

We could build robots to protect us from robots.

But that would be kinda stupid.
