DAP (download accelerator plus)

It's good and has a free version supported by ads (no spyware though, perfectly safe) and a version that you can buy with turbocharged downloads.

I use the free version :P

get it from http://www.speedbit.com

i personally hate DAP, and i had a problem with dap installing spyware on my pc as well.

i would suggest Star Downloader, its fast and has a clean interface and uses very little ram.

DAP doesn't install spyware, it even doesn't install adware. The ads are integrated in to the GUI of the program....

I use the payed version and are very very pleased with it. I tried other download accelerators aswell before bying and my topchoice is DAP...

Btw, a download manager is not a download accelerator. Both are different things... A download manager can be a download accelerator but not neccesairly...

Oh, and I don't use DAP as a download manager (it can be used as that though). But I use it for it's main function, accelerating big downloads. This means, it don't use the integrated options for MSIE or other browsers that will take over the downloads (like a download manager does)...

As well as what Cookie said, I would also like to add that you can actually delete the .gif files (that are the banner adverts) in the program files folder to get rid of the adverts...and due to legal reasons of how they should have been encoded into the runtime files instead of single .gif files last time I checked it is legal to do this...

What is your connection speed to the internet anyway?...because 500mbps is a very high speed indeed :p

Just giving another suggestion.

You might want to try Flashget http://www.amazesoft.com/index.htm

It was quite helpful for me since I used dial-up.
Negative: ad-ware. But it can be removed easily by Spybot and/or Ad-aware.

PS: I said "was" because I used dial-up in my last apartment. But since I am moving in to my friend's house which has broadband and I have not unpacked my computer, I don't know :p.

Go  broadband!!!

500 mb/sec = 500 megabyte/sec = 4000 megabit/sec = impossible speed!
Even 500 megabits/sec is still impossible fast...

You proberly mean 500 kilobits/sec (which is a normal speed for broadband in most places)
[/OFFTOPIC]

Also, a download manager/accelerator doesn't increase your connection speed! It only makes more use of your connection speed so that less is lost...
