IP adress plugin by delroton on 09-01-2004 at 02:17 PM

Are there any plugins that gives you the target machine's(the one you are chatting with) IP adress?
since i am often on lans and it is much more easy just seeing the computers IP adress.
So that i dont have to go into command every time...
i know this could be abused for hacking, but a good hacker dont need a plugin to find victims ip..

THe way the MSN protocoll is set up, everything except direct connections(webcam, filetransfer etc.) is routed through the MSN server, and not directly to your contact.

RE: IP adress plugin by delroton on 09-01-2004 at 02:28 PM

But still, it cant be that hard, like just send a file and press cancel or something? then  you could get the ip adress

RE: IP adress plugin by Anubis on 09-01-2004 at 02:34 PM

The only way a plugin could do this would be for it to imidiatly take a netstat -n when you start it...it sends a small file the contact accepts and does another netstat -n in transfer and compares the results...

RE: IP adress plugin by delroton on 09-01-2004 at 03:02 PM

why compare result? since you can see wich program that is transmitting to a file to an ip

RE: IP adress plugin by Orkblutt on 09-01-2004 at 06:04 PM

Hummm,

I've just made a little plugin to retrieve contact's IP...
The contact must to have the plugin too

To use it:

Open a conversation window with the contact you want the IP
and use the syntax:

/xip contact_mail

example:

/xip orkblutt@msn.com

You can find the IP plugin in the file bellow:

In other words, this is very useless..... just ask your contact to type (!IP)....

RE: IP adress plugin by Orkblutt on 09-01-2004 at 07:27 PM

exactly...
or when your contact isn't in front of the screen...

RE: IP adress plugin by jmccarroll on 09-01-2004 at 07:56 PM

well if they werent in front of their screen it would be hard for them to install it in the first place now wouldnt it?  What he meant was if you have to tell them to install this plugin so I can have your IP...you might as well just ask them to type the IP command in plus

RE: IP adress plugin by Orkblutt on 09-01-2004 at 08:01 PM

need an IP it's not forcelly to hack...
so you can use this plug like you want use it...

that was just to give an anwser to delroton's post.

if you insist to say this plug is stupid, it's because you haven't understand 1 thing here....maybe if you try it you can find the tips ;)

RE: IP adress plugin by Mushroom_Man on 09-02-2004 at 12:37 PM

But what about people like me, behind a NAT?

I've understand everything very clearly... And also, I never called the plugin stupid, I called it useless. Big difference there... thank you.... btw, jmccarroll understood it also....

What do you mean? that (!IP) doesn't give your external IP? For that there are plugins, see "CookieRevised's reply to Idea for (!IP)"...

But these will become useless also, because Patchou is going to implement it directly into the new Messenger Plus! 3.10 (available soon):
(!IPN) will show the IP's of your network (the ones you see now)
(!IP) will show the external true IP's

Excellent !

Can I suggest a feature for a futur MsgPlus version?

/clear -n to delete the n last lines in a conversation window (with n negativ)

I know it's not really usefull.. but I need that.. I'm trying to make a plugin to do that.. but have some problems *-)

n negative? anyways, search forum first ;)

RE: IP adress plugin by Orkblutt on 09-03-2004 at 10:03 AM

ok...you didn't understand what i want mean here...
:$

when u type /clear 1 you keep the last line...
it's a FIFO method here... you are deleting the first sentences with /clear command
:^)

I need to delete the last conversation lines.. not the first!!!
I need FILO method...
I'm suggesting to implement that directly in MsgPlus (not needing plugin). Not necessary to create new command, just with little modifications in the method  to use negativ parameter to delete by the end of the conversation...

I hope the Plus! version will give the proper external IP, not the NTL proxy-type thing im behind (in front of my NAT) that some of the plugins give.  However, I'm using a plguin atm that accurately gives your external IP, to be found here:

Yes, read the thread I've pointed out earlier in this thread, and read it till the end where Patchou clearly states how he is going to implement it...
Also, in that same thread I already listed all (?) the "external IP finder" plugins (except for MD, but that isn't a plugin.... but will be added soon nevertheless)

p.s.
