BT Router ????? by ayjay on 09-04-2004 at 09:04 AM

I have an old BT Model 5861 (Part No 120-5861-003) router, which I want to use to enable two PCs to use my Wanadoo broadband account, is this possible and if it is, how do I do it and do I need any driver software?

Thanks,

Dom.

have u not got an instructions ??

well u need to network it to both computers and then log on to it tho internet explorer. to log on you will need to know the ip address of the router, and then you will need to input the username and password.

for my make of router, the username is the make of the router and the password is "password"

edit:

http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/eff#9 seems to have abit of information in it

Thanks so much, I haven't got any instructions with it because I bought it off a friend after my old one failed (I had someone else set up my old one). I'll try it, thanks.

His computer has crashed and I don't know his phone number so I can't ask him the IP. Is there any other way I can find it?

Not really no.  I'd assume it would be in the range of 192.168.0.*

Just keep attempting to connect to it via internet explorer or telnet or even hyperterminal depending on how it accepts connections.

I'll try that, thanks everyone.
