Internet Help.. please? by Ginger on 09-08-2004 at 01:57 AM

Well i decided after a week of wanting to throw my computer (obviously not the one im on atm) out the window, i thought you guys might be able to help me..

since last week, my internet connection hasnt been working.  The icon says its connected, and so does the router but when i tried to open a browser window or MSN it says im not connected and gives me msgs about workin offline or tryin to reconnect but it never works.

Any help or advice is appreciated

ive kinda had a problem like this...a trojan was blocking my internet, i got some help from matty. (he told me about my problem) and i ran a avirus scan i believe (it was awhile ago actually) and it fixed my problem, or maybe it was a fixtool, anyways...i think you shoiuld just run a virus scan and if that doesnt work, the best of luck to you

There is a very small change it is a virus, but there are other options. First of all go to your connection (usually called Lan connection or something), double click it and check the Support tab. Does it says anything @ Ip adress/ default gateway / adrestype (like 192.168.***.*** / 192.168.***.*** / assigned by dhcp) ?

====> If it does, go to you internet explorer -> Extra -> internet options -> connections and check that never make a connections is checked and everything @ the button lan settings is checked off...

====> If it doesn't go to you (lan)connection again, right click on it -> properties -> then click internet protocol (tcp/ip) and click properties. Make sure everything @ both tabs is checked OFF.

Have you actually tried clicking File and seeing if there is a tick next to work offline?

MSN uses internet explorer to do stuff so if it's set to work offline, MSN will be offline.

If you have done this then ignore me...
