Howdy. I've been having this weird problem where the new e-mail notification keeps popping up when no new e-mail is received in my two POP3 accounts. The number of new e-mails it shows keeps going up with every actual new e-mail I get. For instance, right now it says that I have 8 mails in one account and 2 in the other, and this is days after I had already read them. If they are still in your inbox, that may be the problem, as some POP3 servers report the total number of e-mails, not the number of unread. Yeah, I've moved them from the inbox to a different folder and it didn't change anything. Also, It wouldn't be a problem with the server because it didn't do this until recently. RE: New e-mail notification when there's no new mail. by CookieRevised on 09-09-2004 at 04:18 AM

Ok, I figured it out. Turns out it was the mail server. The thing is that I had told my client to leave all messages on the server a couple days ago and it was, as you said, reporting the total number of emails. |
