Weather plugin... by Orkblutt on 09-10-2004 at 05:50 PM

Hi

little plugin using http://weather.noaa.gov informations to display current weather in all principal towns in the World...

to use it:

/xweather TOWN_CODE
TOWN_CODE is a 4 characters code long
ex:
/xweather LFMN
will return current weather in Nice, France...

[Image: screenshot.jpg]

/xcountry Country
will retrieve all town code by country
To find all valid country, use /xcountry without paremeter.
The first charactere of 'Country' parmater must be upcase...

/xstates State
same that /xcountry... but for USA

It's the first beta release... so not sure it's really stable...
report here all bugs please

This plugin is ace but could you make it so it supports Windows Media Player?

RE: Weather plugin... by Orkblutt on 09-10-2004 at 06:35 PM

yes... easilly... I'll put it online tomorrow if i've time

RE: Weather plugin... by TGG on 09-10-2004 at 06:39 PM

nice work (y);)(Y):D(Y);)(Y)

RE: Weather plugin... by Orkblutt on 09-10-2004 at 06:40 PM

ty :)
I'll try to enhance it in the next days

RE: Weather plugin... by bungleMX on 09-10-2004 at 07:46 PM

cool plugin, what will be the diference if it is compatible with Windows Media Player???

RE: Weather plugin... by Orkblutt on 09-10-2004 at 07:48 PM

don't know exactlly :d ... they have some plugin to do that...
maybe because I add command to control sonique...

RE: Weather plugin... by aNILEator on 09-10-2004 at 11:20 PM

errm /xmp is already taken in the popular Windows Media Plus plugin please change seeing as i now get a pop up saying if i want to share weather plugin

RE: Weather plugin... by Orkblutt on 09-10-2004 at 11:30 PM

Yes... I was using these functions (sonique/winamp control) but I'll delete them in futur release.

The pop up propose you to send the plugin the first time you use with a contact. It will appear no more after... that will help to distribute MsgPlus more ;)

RE: Weather plugin... by aNILEator on 09-10-2004 at 11:42 PM

yes but when i want to send information to my friend about the song i'm listening to i don't want to send him a plugin about the weather, nice plugin though. I tried making an msn tab of this but found difficulty

RE: Weather plugin... by Orkblutt on 09-10-2004 at 11:47 PM

ok... I see
When your using /xmp, that's using \x12 character...
so that's passing in my plugin before (or after) to pass in your Media player plugin...
If you re try to use /xmp command with this same contact, that must be bypass my plugin and uses the real /xmp functionality... no ?

I'm trying to make tab or simple dialog to choose Country, Town and time to show weather...
but I've some difficulty me too...
I'm using C++ and I have some problem to attach resource to my project...
(don't know exactlly where is the problem...)

RE: Weather plugin... by aNILEator on 09-11-2004 at 10:09 AM

you are correct, but this also happens when i try to use other plugins, maybe you should remove this sending feature

RE: Weather plugin... by Orkblutt on 09-11-2004 at 10:11 AM

hummmm... Ok... I'll remove that sending feature this evening...
I'll replace it by "Share weather plugin with my contact" in the menu....
thank you

RE: Weather plugin... by aNILEator on 09-11-2004 at 10:48 AM

your very welcome and thankyou for  your co-operation. Welcome to the forums

:many:

RE: Weather plugin... by Orkblutt on 09-11-2004 at 07:04 PM

Thank you! :d

I'm thinking to add some functionality like:
translation in some languages + unit convert (MPH to kilometer by example)
+ saving preference (not needing to re type the code town each time)

I'll try to make that for tomorow...

Weather in some languages...UPDATED[09/15] by Orkblutt on 09-12-2004 at 12:49 AM

Hi,

just build a new release of my weather plugin with a new functionality: retrieve current weather and translate result in some languages

to use it:

quote:
/xweather TOWNCODE TRANSLATECODE

ex:

[Image: Weather01.jpg]
[Image: Weather02.jpg]

You can find here the languages list or with /xwtranshelp command

quote:
en_zh ->English to simple chinese
en_zt ->English to traditional chinese
en_nl ->English to dutch
en_fr ->English to french
en_de ->English to german
en_el ->English to greek
en_it ->English to italian
en_ja ->English to japanese
en_ko ->English to corean
en_pt ->English to portuguese
en_ru ->English to russian
en_es ->English to spanish

To use chinese, greek, japanese, corean or russian you must install these language packages

you can keep empty the TRANSLATECODE to display result in english and to speak it.

If you have a bad connexion, that can take a while before result will be display (about 2 or 3s with DSL connexion) when you're using translation function...

Report bugs here please

WeatherMMPlugin v1.1:
RE: Weather in some languages by Twan on 09-12-2004 at 09:00 AM

how do I know my town code ???  anyway  thnx for translation to dutch :)

RE: Weather in some languages by Orkblutt on 09-12-2004 at 09:10 AM

to display your code town type:

/xcountry to view all avaible country.
after that, you can use /xcountry Country to display code town.
by example:
/xcountry France
will display all town in France with codes...

take a look to http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=31225 for more informations.

RE: Weather in some languages...UPDATED[09/15] by Zaarin on 05-13-2005 at 09:53 AM

Love it. What I would like to be able to do is have it displayed in my Display Name, or personal Message.

eg.

Zaarin - Currently 16°C

or something like that.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this can be done. But great work so far.

The dll goes in the Messenger Plus/Plugins folder which is  C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\Plugins unless you installed it elsewhere.

Hmmm, i can't seem to get it working properly, I get a strange window...

(See attached screenshot)

RE: RE: Weather in some languages...UPDATED[09/15] by eauman on 05-14-2005 at 08:19 PM

Thanks got it working now, it's cool.

One more question, if none of my contacts are online how can I get up a chat window to find weather info? Can I create a test contact in MSN or something ?

It could possible be because of your contact being offline (nice job editing out his email...)
