Printing Music Library by Anubis on 09-13-2004 at 03:54 PM

For a IT project I'm currently doing at school I decided to make an access database filled up with my Music Library, but I need it to contain the Artist, Genre, Title and composers ect...Now since I have about 400+ MP3s I'm only going to select a few. But to do this properly I need to have my entire music library (like in WMP10) saved into a .txt file (I'll input them into access later) and it all has to contain the Artist, Genre, Title and composers ect. info from the ID3 tags...I hope you understand what I mean. So any idea how to do this?

Try this freeware program, PrintFolders. It's capable of reading ID3 tags and outputting to text or html. It has plenty of options too.

Here's an example of what it generated for one of my MP3 folders (I took a screenshot of the text just to make sure it shows properly)...

Would that work?

Oh, BTW, the help file says it supports the following ID3 fields...

quote:
"title", "artist", "album", "year", "comment", "genre", "track", "composer", "original artist", "copyright", "URL", "encoded by" (ID3v1.0, ID3v1.1, ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4)

I set it up like

But it didn't seem to work...Just a blank .txt file

Hmm... I just tried that setup and got the same result. Check "include file names"... worked for me. :p
