Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by matty on 09-13-2004 at 11:53 PM

For our lovely fans of Fire Fox which mind you has nothing to do with Microsoft, I wish for you to click the following link.

Copy and paste link please.

Yes I know there is a leading forward slash but there is supposed to be for this.

Enjoy!

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by bach_m on 09-13-2004 at 11:59 PM

Anyways Why would it do that? :S, does It only work with FireFox? cuz it doesn't work on MSN Explorer or IE
RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by dotNorma on 09-14-2004 at 12:09 AM

You can do that with any website and it takes you to the same page.

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by matty on 09-14-2004 at 12:11 AM

Thats why I jokingly said it was an M$ hack.

just like about:mozilla in the IE browser gives a blue web page (BSOD)

and now this lol

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by FadeToBlack on 09-14-2004 at 06:44 AM

about:mozilla in IE just gives me the regular "Action canceled" page.

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by ddunk on 09-14-2004 at 06:57 AM

It just says moziila for me

<HTML>mozilla</HTML>

Hmm, MSN Explorer uses the IE engine, by the way, only even more fawked up. ( =| )

No it doesn't, it's a built in IE page which shows you a completely empty blue page, much like about:blank, but blue...

Does to my knowledge, Opera says "address type unsupported". Which it should.

Do you recon the leading slash could somehow be interpreted as a root slash, and the root being microsoft.com? Hell, don't ask me why it would be.
RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by RaceProUK on 09-14-2004 at 12:37 PM

Maybe Firefox is just a little more forgiving?

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by KeyStorm on 09-14-2004 at 01:02 PM

That's funny. I'm pretty sure that has very little to do with bugs and more with easter eggs. Well, it makes no sense at all (ms being root of everything...).

Then they removed that from their default offline pages.. =/

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by KeyStorm on 09-14-2004 at 01:53 PM

Just type:
about:<HTML><HEAD><BODY%20bgcolor="#000080"%20text="#FFFFFF"></BODY></HTML>

Hope this still works, it was an easy way to make dynamic pages :refuck:

edit: or maybe res://mshtml.dll/about.moz works, too.

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by lhunath on 09-14-2004 at 02:31 PM

about:<HTML><HEAD><BODY%20bgcolor="#000080"%20text="#FFFFFF"></BODY></HTML>
Action cancelled.
res://mshtml.dll/about.moz should work, but since about:mozilla doesn't work, I recon it's not just the link to it that's been broken, but the about.moz is just no longer present.

lil firefox secret

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by JedeyeNite on 09-14-2004 at 05:39 PM

It's not a easter egg or a bug (or microsoft hax :P)
It doesnt recognise the url if it has a / infront of it, so it does a google 'Im feeling lucky' search.

And top of the list for 'http' is microsoft.com :)

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by KeyStorm on 09-14-2004 at 05:43 PM

Ok, but the question is why does it ignore all the rest of the url, then? :-/

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by lhunath on 09-14-2004 at 06:08 PM

Or more like, why does it link to microsoft.com, and not to, say like, http://lhunath.lyndir.com ? Pfft.

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by Itanium on 09-14-2004 at 08:53 PM

well this is something else. I am getting closer. Trick is with the word immediately after the /

If its http it takes to microsoft site. if its https we get paypal.com. For /ftp smartftp.com is the page. And any other word just takes to some site.

To me it looks like result of search from some engine and the first result being loaded. Like google's "I'm feeling lucky" button. I am unable to break the code yet though. May be some of you can with these hints.

RE: Firefox bug? or M$ hack (yeah right) by lhunath on 09-14-2004 at 09:26 PM

Omg, microsoft bastards =P
