archivers:zip rar, etc by benjyrama on 09-14-2004 at 05:22 PM

Does anyone know of any freeware archivers that can extract zip and rar files without an installation?

*-)

Or, search Google for 7-Zip. I use it: it handles zip, rar, gzip, bzip2, tar, and it's own format. At least.
And the best bit is: it's absolutely FREE!

Umm did anyone not realize WinRar is the same as Winzip and mIRC in which you don't have to uninstall to continue using it before the "trial" runs out? I've had the same WinRar for about 2 months now (bought a new comp) and never had to uninstall/reinstall.

using software after the trial period isn't a legal thing to do, and thus is against the rules of this forum to suggest that....

What got oldversion.com to do with this? If he wants software, why should he d/l old and redundant software (with possible bugs)? Bad suggestion IMO....

As far as i remember, i could use my winzip when the trial period expired..it just displayed a nagscreen when i started it, but you could still use it. Its the same with winrar i think.

just try and download winzip, and if the trial runs out, download another zip program.. or you could just right click, send to > .zip folder :-/

The freeware compression programs are well enough I suppose, if you really want to stay legal but not want to buy the stuff. =/
