Wrong username in Quote by matty on 09-29-2004 at 12:08 PM

I was talking with Choli and had set a comeback message for him and since he was Busy and had an automessage on I recieved the automessage.

Mensaje automtico says:
Estoy trabajando, tardare en responder

Now when Plus! quotes the text instead of the Plus! showing the user as Choli that sent the message it shows it as "Mensaje automtico"

Now shouldn't the Message say
Choli says:
Mensaje automtico: Estoy trabajando, tardare en responder?

It's been designed in that way, as always, Plus! classifies the quotes by display names instead of e-mail addresses :)

No but Choli's name is Choli on MSN and instead of the Message coming from him, it came from Mensaje automtico. Which it shouldn't be, because I was talking with Choli not Automatic Message.

So it's not "Wrong username in Quote", it's "Wrong username in Away Messages", right? :S

RE: Wrong username in Quote by Choli on 09-29-2004 at 03:32 PM

OK Ok.... I was working and couldn't explain you what happened... I'm using Linux, so I'm using aMSN. As I can see, after reading your post, is that aMSN uses a feature of the protocol of messenger that lets you have 2 nicks: One for the contact list and another while chatting *. I think that aMSN changed temporally my chatting name by "Mensaje automatico" (automatic message) and then it sent the message "Estoy trabajando bla bla bla..." (I'm working bla bla bla...)

* -> In aMSN you can change both nicks, the same as with StuffPlug NG.

--------------

EDit: Definetelly, Plus should classify the messages by email address, and show the current nick in that drop down list. People that change their nick often, or that have 2 nicks or just that use that automessage feature of aMSN will cause that kind of problems.

When I was testing Plus! 3, I pointed that out...but Patchou didn't say a word about it :( It could have something to do with how Plus! deal with quote storage :)

Does aMSN support MsgPlus!? :| :O
RE: Wrong username in Quote by CookieRevised on 09-29-2004 at 05:01 PM

Nope. But it has also an "away-message" thingie though and that is what Choli used...

RE: Wrong username in Quote by matty on 09-29-2004 at 05:56 PM

What we are trying to say is that Choli had a message sent and it logs it as another user which it shouldn't so.

one more reason to implement it :P storing received messages by email rather than by nick is more logical, imo.

and the problem is what I said (that nick-on-conversation thingy) I've made tests with Matty and it's that.

It'd be a great addition to aMSN that it would support MsgPlus codes (for bold, italics, ... , automessages, pings, /me, etc... (plugins maybe too...))

Apparently, they're working on it, but it's lowest of the low priority tasks.

:O i didn't know that... that would be great, but they should increase the priority :refuck: (specially now that I have to work in linux and i can't see custom statuses, colors, format, etc... :P)
