Eastlink.. Cannot access website by SYN/ACK on 10-09-2004 at 04:22 PM

I read on the forums that if you cannot access the website and your ISP is Eastlink than theres nothing you can do.

Why is this? are there any mirrors of the website so I can see the plugins?

SYN/ACK

Which website do you mean? Unfortunatly there are not any mirrors of the website (http://plugins.msgplus.net but if you do want one, you seem to be able to access this site, we can simply post the plugin here for you to download :).

the site in question is http://www.msgplus.net

RE: Eastlink.. Cannot access website by SYN/ACK on 10-09-2004 at 05:57 PM

here is the reply from my ISP:

The messenger plus site has actually prevented all 24 IP ranges from accessing its website for some time (this doesn't affect just the Eastlink domain). Our abuse department has already investigated this matter, and tried to get the site to allow access from our network, but the site will not unblock us. We do not block access to any websites from our end, so you are free to go to any website you wish unless the other end has restricted access. This is the way paying for a Internet service works. There would be no point in paying for a service if restrictions were in place regarding where you could surf, but sometimes website and even countries will restrict access from Internet Service Providers and refuse to allow access to them.

You might be interested to know that although the website http://www.msgplus.net is blocking access from our network, and refuses to unblock us, we have found another location you can download the program from, as http://www.msgplus.net is not the only website you can download the program from. You can get the same program add on for Messenger by going to http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/10/4/5/10-4-5-2.shtml. Make sure that when you download the program, and it asks you where you want to download the program from, that you choose either Softpedia Mirror (US) or Softpedia Mirror (RO), because External Mirror 1 is from http://download.msgplus.net and it is the same site that is blocking us.

I will let Patchou know about this thread tonight or when he is online next. As far as I know he uses his own server for the website. So if there is anything available he can do on his end i guarantee he will do it (i hope.)

I thought taht C2 media owns Patchou's server?? And that they were suppling the new server for the forum?

errr.... I wish they would have contacted me about the problem. What they are saying doesn't mean anything, you can't "try" to unblock your site if a server has restricted its access (except if you hack it).

This is a very unfortunate proble, however, you have to understand that there is no reaons for me to block access to anyone. msgplus.net is currently hosted on my sponsor's servers and I'm 95% sure that they block my server IP (to prevent their users from downloading anything from C2Media). Until they realise that the problem is on their side, things will stay that day.
If you can get them to email me at mplus@patchou.com, I'll gladly discuss the situation with them.

thanks Patchou, I have been coming here since the beginning I just want access to this site.  I will forward the info to my ISP in hopes they rectify this issue.  In the meantime I guess I will have to get my friends to download plugins..

I do have access to this site, just not plugins or website

It really sucks that I can't access the web site.... brians sad :(

RE: Eastlink.. Cannot access website by matty on 10-10-2004 at 03:42 AM

Normally I wouldn't recommend trying this but its worth a shot. It will be a bit slow but you should be able to access the website.

MsgPlus.net: http://glass.ipe.tsukuba.ac.jp/~s011304/cgi/nph-p.../http/msgplus.net/

Messenger Plus! Plugins: http://glass.ipe.tsukuba.ac.jp/~s011304/cgi/nph-p...et/pluginsdb/down/

What is actually being done here is you are accessing a website then that website pulls off the information of the page and displays it back. This is how I am able to log into the forums at work :) but shhh.

RE: Eastlink.. Cannot access website by Patchou on 10-12-2004 at 12:42 AM

If you're on Eastlink, can you try again? It may work now (and if it does, it will prove once and for all that Eastlink are the one who were blocking msgplus.net).
