You do not need that plug-in to change the colour of your nick.

To use colour in your name, just open a conversation window, type /nick and a space and press ctrl-k. Then click the colour you want, type your name and press enter. If you want to use multiple colours, just use ctrl-k in your name multiple times, right before where you want the colour to show up. Take a look at the following example:

Why ??

Since colored nicks are a function of Messenger Plus!, only people with Plus! can see the nicknames

if the other person does not have plus, then they will see code, instead of colour

Messenger Plus! adds codes in your name that symbolise the colour. These codes can only be read by Messenger Plus!: if you have Messenger Plus! installed, and it finds a code like that in your name, then Messenger Plus! knows that it should change the name into that colour.

If you do not have Messenger Plus! installed, then there is nothing that knows that the codes in the names of your contacts mean that your name should be in a different colour. It is Plus! that recognises the codes and changes it into the right colour; if you do not have Plus!, it will not be in colour.

Colours only work if your contact also has Messenger Plus!, that's just the way it is

If you wish to see colours in nicknames on MSN Messenger 7, you will also need Plus! there. Seeing as there is no Messenger Plus! for MSN Messenger 7 yet, this cannot be done yet.

You shouldn't use MSN Messenger 7 beta yet anyway, as it's not officially released and using that (unreleased, private) beta is illegal if you're not an official Microsoft beta tester
