Block a contact. by Eagle on 10-25-2004 at 05:49 PM

Hi guy's ! Long time no see :D
I'd like to know if ther's a way to realy block a contact. Here's what he did.
It's for a friend.

1) Blocked the contact
2) Deleted the contact
3) Checked ''Autorize only the contacts in my green list to contact me and send messages''.

He told me that this contact is always asking to be part of is list.

Is there a way to completely block this contact, IP Adress or something like that ?

PS: May not be abeled to respond right away, i'm going to work. Thank's.

If the contact has been blocked and deleted and you've blocked "all others" the contact can't keep sending a request to be added to his contact list, it just won't work...the only way he can be talked to is if a contact is added to a chat with someone else...Unless that contact keeps making a new account to send the request...

Yep that's what he told me, that the contact keep's sending request to be added to he's list.

First i'll make shur that he has the latest MSN Messenger installed, i'll be back !

That's because he has just deleted him... You shouldn't do that if you want to block a contact. If he truely has blocked the contact, then there is no way that the contact can contact him again...

Just "block" and enabling "only allow people on my allowlist to see my status", nothing more... If you just delete a contact then there is no block and if the contact deletes you from his list then there is no trace anymore in the database of the connection between the both of you, and thus the contact can request to be added again, like nothing has happend.

there as check box "i also want to block this person" that way they can't do anything

Yes, but that wont delete the contact from your contactlist (read: allowlist/blocklist combination).

I was talking when you delete the contact from the list, then they can add you again. In other words, do not just delete the contact from your list if you want him blocked for good.

PS: if you click on "delete this contact" and you also select "also block this contact", then the contact isn't really deleted...

Well for me i'v deleted theme because the contacts dident come back to hunt me lolllllll. but in the case of my friend i told him not to delete the contact, to juste block it and if there's juste one contact that you keep block in the list it's not to bad 1 in 150, it's a good compromise.

Thank's guys for youre advice (Y)
