I doubt that it would work, i'm sure that it would detect if a user had opened the window, because StuffPlug gets inteferance, if someone changes display picture, it opens the connection, and when this happens, stuffplug thinks that the person has opened a conversation, but it hasn't, its just detected that a new display picture is there, and is connecting it for you.

I'm sure it would work the same ways as this.

and there is your problem with msn messenger 7 popups...

the problem is, it would not pick up the change in display picture

Proxy couldn't do it.
I've seen what is sent when a DP is changed: it's a standard NLN status change command. There is no DP-change command in the protocol.

just keep an array of the current msnobject the user has, then at an NLN or other command, check against the old msnobject, if changed, notify :P?

not that difficult, eh?
you said it yourself; pretty useless to make a proxy just for that. (remember in the times of mycustomnix?)

and, stuffplug ng uses packet sniffing, so use that and add it to SPNG? :p
