"Hide the advertising banner" by JackBastard on 11-04-2004 at 05:35 PM

The option under contact list to hide the advertising banner is disabled - anyone know why? Does anyone else have the same problem?

It isn't working with MSN Messenger 7.0 at the moment, as Messenger Plus! 3.40 isn't actually fully complete, its still in its BETA form, so it won't work for about 2 weeks afaik.

The "Hide advertisement banner" is not available in MSN Messenger 7 anymore. The reason is not entirely technical, I just felt this option had not its place in Messenger Plus! anymore, thank you for understanding.

I'm sure that someone else will come out with the patch to remove the banner, so sit tight.

Thanks for the help guys, that ad banner is really annoying, especially as all I get at the moment is "can't connect to server" messages.

Please remember BETA software does not reflect the quality of the Final product. You use BETA software at your own risk without support from the developers (most of the time). If you aren't a Beta Butterfly you shouldn't be using the BETA version of MSN Messenger in the first place, so you can't complain.

Also, take a note of:

It's optional, but if nobody installs it, Patchou doesn't earn money, so Patchou wants that people installs the sponsor (maybe not all his users, but some percentage). In this scenario, isn't it strange that Patchou removes the banner, that gives M$ money? I understand Patchou and his decission. The same as Patchou, behind Messenger there are lots of programmers that have to earn money. M$ gets that money from the ads in messenger. It's illogical that Patchou removes it, imo.

Search the known Messenger related sites, they all have patches for it...
