Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by Patchou on 01-11-2003 at 03:33 AM

I'm leaving in 12 hours but I felt lik I had to release a version 2.00.16 before I go anywhere... today when I was chatting at work, I foudn out that using /me commands with 2.00.15 with emoticons didn't produce good results. It is due to some testing I've done before the release of this version and I forge to remove some comments in my code. Please accept my apologizes and download version 2.00.16. Only other fix: going in the Appearance tab (where the language is displayed) shouldn'T crash your Messenger anymore.

http://pages.infinit.net/patchou8/MP2016.exe ... you'll have to update your mirrors again :)

Go Patchou Go!

Good work patchou.

I'd update my mirror, but being afraid of all my bandwidth disappearing I had to take off the other files as well.

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by MoRiA on 01-11-2003 at 11:58 AM

Good to see that only one of the 3 mirror lists has been updated to 2.016, and that one only contains one mirror...

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by TheProfessional on 01-11-2003 at 11:58 AM

Thanks again Patchou, but now please, please go on vacation ;)

Hmm, look who's asleep now? :> ;)

I've updated my mirrors again, I'm thinking about just removing the MP2.0014 mirror page because almost all of them are down LoL

My site will keep all Beta versions I get my hands on. It currently still has MP2014, MP2015 & MP2016.
I'm hoping my ISP wont disconnect me actually cos people have downloaded almost 2GB in the past 3 days hehe :)

Thanks for the new version Patchou!:D
I updated my mirror list as well:) Thanks for all the mirror providers who updated their mirrors so quickly!:)

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by jpg050 on 01-11-2003 at 02:11 PM

A spanish mirror, hope it works ;)

http://usuarios.lycos.es/jpg050/MP2/MP2016.exe

Also, to have something to look at and remember:
http://usuarios.lycos.es/jpg050/MP2/MP2015.exe
http://usuarios.lycos.es/jpg050/MP2/MP2014.exe

(I think 14 is the first beta Patchou intended to be public, so I
won't put any lower one unless he gives his permission)

Also put a small website, where you can download the three public betas, apart from counting how many people downloads it and giving a little-little info which I'll try to expand.

http://usuarios.lycos.es/jpg050/MP2

hope lycos won't turn it off...

I've got a Canadian Mirror up (Vancouver)

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by dennistt on 01-13-2003 at 06:42 AM

I couldn't resist setting up a mirror.  With the best software from Patchou and the graphics from "insert name here" and "insert group here" that also helped out I had to make a mirror for Vancouverites and Canadians to download quick and easy.

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by unigolyn on 01-13-2003 at 11:20 PM

First of all, GREAT work, Patchou, MP2 really kicks ass.

Sorry if someone's mentioned this before, but I have a little suggestion/feature request:

when you hit 'Lock Messenger for the first time, and it asks you for the password, it doesn't have the usual 'retype password' thing. I might be wrong, but it seems it would be a LOT of trouble if you accidentally mistyped the password, and then had no idea what it is, and your messenger would be locked. So if it's not too much of a hassle, include password verification in the next release.

I am not trying to tell you how to hack messenger but
for windows 98 users, to reset your Plus! password:
1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del
2. Select MSN Messenger
3. Click End Task
4. Open MSN Messenger the way you usually do
5. Click Properties under the Plus! menu
6. Select Instant Lock
7. Enter your new password
8. Click OK
The password has been reset!

I do agree that you should put a password verification in a new version,
and i also agree that no matter wat Plus Kicks Ass!

Well, it's not as hard as i thought it would be (I never actually mistyped my pwd, and I know how to kill a task), which kinda defeats the purpose of the locking, since anyone can perform the above-mentioned task killing and get into your contact list/hotmail by relaunching msn. So in a future release, I'd include pwd verification, and if possible, it should stay locked even during a same-session restart of Messenger. That is, if I could code, and make programs as useful as Plus. :)

(I'm not sure you can keep Messenger locked after a task killing, because while killing Messenger, they can also end the msgplus process, and I figured you need the msgplus process to have any control over Messenger itself; likewise the locking is done by Plus, not Messenger)
RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by sock on 01-16-2003 at 02:08 PM

The locking mechanism is supposed to stop people from accessing your Messenger on a very basic level. If the people who are trying to access Messenger are geeks and they really wanna do so, they could always find a way to do it. It's a bit like a door lock.... You'd be surprised how easy it is to pick locks, but (most(6)) people won't do that. Of course Ctrl+Alt+Del is easier, but you get the idea.:)

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by Omar on 01-16-2003 at 03:41 PM

Ok...I'm new at this forum, so i wanna take this opportunity to say thanks to Patchou for this great Messenger add-on...

Sorry is this is a little out of date.:-$

Now many of my friends have this great program...:many:

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by jpg050 on 01-17-2003 at 06:27 PM

Er... it seems that my mirror

http://usuarios.tripod.es/jpg050/MP2/MP2016.exe doesn't work in some places of this lovely planet, tripod or lycos or whatever orders you to visit the main page... So if that's the case go to http://usuarios.lycos.es/jpg050/MP2 or choose another mirror. I apologize for the inconvenience and thank Sock for telling me

(Damned enterprise fussions) xD

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by TheProfessional on 01-19-2003 at 10:11 PM

Alright, I have officially retired from the mirror page business... Sock, and IEZZ, I hope you guys stay in the game. I'm really busy with school and other stuff right now to keep this up. Thanks for all of your support. My site is still up but only has my links to the install packages and no mirrors. I'll still post on the forums though. Well, talk to everyone later..

you can make a password that stays even after the session kill if there is a code to check if and save the password that is currently active into an ini or text file. with some encoding that would be the best way to handle this.

Maybe an encrypted password...

Maybe there could be a switch... like if you start the lock feature, it writes/modifies a code onto an ini (which should be hard to find and decode) and if the task is killed before the user unlocks, next time, msgplus would know that lock is still on and immediate lock Messenger.

Hope you'all understand

RE: Wops! please read! - 2.00.16 Released by user2319 on 01-20-2003 at 02:07 PM

about the PW: its NOT meant to be super-encrypted. its meant for people who dont want you to see msngr and talk with your contacts if you "lend" your pc for a few secs. and if they Really want to hack it, they can!
