Is there a possibility that this thread (or at least the first post) gets his own page or something, away from the forum database as this is the cause of the many guests (200-300+) and very frequent server load limits...

Yeah, like what happened with TB a while ago directing people to a thread a temporary static page would work where people could get the data in a plain HTML page...

So true...the Who's Online list is terrible... since redistribution is forbidden, everyone who wants to download Plus! 3109 must head for the page. Causes quite server load

Someone should ask Patchou to get that damn download link and beta info off of the forums and onto msgplus.net...

I'm already forcing people that come to that thread from an off-site link into threaded mode, so they only download that first post, and bandwidth is conserved.

The problem with making a static page in this case is that Patchou wants to update that post from time to time. Of course, I could spend an hour or two thinking up and coding some kind of caching system, but I'm not sure it would be worth it.

Just static it, then when Patchou edits the post or something make it update the static version.

As by Patchou's request, the link on FileForum was changed to here as they were redistributing it via there website.
