That doesn't pick up EVERYTHING - especially viruses that were unleashed AFTER NAV 2005 was built and distributed...

Have you looked at Symantec Web Support

You got all the updates installed of Norton? And are you sure it's not just telling you to restart constantly after it's installed all the updates one by one?

RE: Norton AntiVirus 2005 Annoyance by Reaper on 11-22-2004 at 08:21 PM

Have you tried waiting (without clicking the icon) for the configuration wizzard to automatically appear after like a minute or so?

I searched around at the Norton site, and it came up with this:
Norton AntiVirus 2005 installation appears to complete and no error is displayed, but you cannot start the program

I hope its useful.

From the site
14. Reinstall Norton AntiVirus.
Even if you hadn't the registry keys, did you reinstall Norton after following everything?

Did you also follow the given link on that page:
Reinstalling your Symantec program after a failed installation or after you see error messages

Did you turn off any registry/file monitoring programs that can (and will) interfear with installations? (like ad-watcher, anti-popup programs, other virusscanners, etc... etc...)
