I believe you can't. I think MSN Messenger disallowed users to use pop3 with any mail application so you would need to use "Hotmail Popper" in order to check your hotmail account. If you need help with it, You should check out their main site. Really easy to set up + use.

You can set it up in outlook.
Go to add new account - then select HTTP as the account type.
Then set it up from there.

I forgot they disabled it.

^ Madman: MSN disabled pop3 and smtp for free hotmail accounts like 3 weeks ago or something similar.

It would seem at the moment there's no way to access Hotmail from a POP3 client unless you have an MSN Premium or Hotmail Plus account.

Hotmail never had free POP3 and SMTP. I don't even think they had POP3 at all... Outlook uses a http server to connect to hotmail, but as stated above it has been barred from free use.

Edit: My account is still accessable through Outlook at the moment :-/.

If you have an old, originally pop3 MSN account, commonly called a 'legacy' (or grandfathered) account that has never been accessed via http then pop3 may still be available. Contact MSN support for further instructions.

If you have a free Hotmail or MSN account and have accessed that account using OE or OL in the past using HTTP, this feature IS still available to you, at least until early 2005.  Old free MSN or Hotmail accounts that had never been accessed using OE or OL before the cut-off back in September can no longer be accessed using those programmes.

Free Hotmail or MSN accounts that have been created since the cut off point cannot be accessed via OE or OL.

If you have a pay-for account, you can still access your account via OE or OL even if you have never used it to access the account before now.

The http server address for an @msn.com email for Outlook and Outlook Express is:
http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata

@hotmail.com uses a different address:
http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp
