Yet another (difficult) plugin suggestion by riahc4 on 11-30-2004 at 01:42 AM

Im not even sure if a plugin can do this but would it be possible for a plugin to hook onto the webcam and if there is a change in the image alert something with a flashing taskbar or a sound?

In your webcam or in your contact's ?

I don't think this will be really possible, because it wouldn't just keep on flashing, because webcams constantly change, apart from lag, IMO this would be the most annoying thing in the world, constant sounds and flashing :-/...

Of course you would have an option to turn it off instantly let me put in a situacion....

Your viewing your buddy's webcam and he/she tells u they're going away. They leave the computer. If the webcam doesnt move the image should stay the same the whole time. As soon as he/she comes back or the cam moves it changes the image and alerts me he/she is back.

Even when there's absolutely no movement that you can see, the camera image is constantley being updated, so there is no way this is possible, sorry.

This is true. The image changes all the time, even if the webcam is still. You could try this, by looking at your webcam in the screen, aiming at the air. You'll see the changes instantly.

It's possible....
Think about it :P
Each pixel is an RGB value, if you keep the cam at a specific place, the pixels will change, but not much.
if you move the webcam, certain pixels change color..
so what you should do is have some kind of treshhold.
Check the image every x milliseconds, check the pixels against the older image, see if they are higher than the treshhold you set, and if so, movement was detected...

blah, decided not to post here anymore, but this just had to be rectified...
