Make Firefox FASTER! by .Roy on 12-01-2004 at 01:06 PM

ok while on mess.be forums ive noticed a topic saying if you have firefox download this.. It was a patch that makes your firefox browser work faster by connecting to multiple servers..

Most programs/patches like this makes it faster but are not noticeable.. But this is..

this is one reason why to switch to Firefox.

Download link is here

http://members.optusnet.com.au/trewman/Firefox_Patcher.zip

I suggest you restart firefox to see the difference :-) Have fun

My friend sent me this a long time ago and this is all it is changing. No need for a program, you can do it manually

To make it even faster double click the numbers and change them accordingly
RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Jeronimo on 12-01-2004 at 01:39 PM

There is an extension to do this as well, with a nice GUI for those who are a bit afraid to use the text format as Matty suggested.

Check out Tweak Network Settings. It allows you to use a preset, and easily change things back to the default.

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Vilkku on 12-01-2004 at 03:14 PM

If my http.proxy.pipelining is 1.1, should I change it to 1.0 as your picture says?

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by The_Thief on 12-01-2004 at 03:49 PM

The tweek network settings extension works better than that .zip file so I am happy. thanks

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by .Roy on 12-01-2004 at 05:28 PM

hmm.. The tweeker seems to have made mine slower :-/

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Rik on 04-14-2005 at 04:35 PM

i just change to Firefox and i just patch
really good patch(y) it's faster than IE :D

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Savior on 04-14-2005 at 05:09 PM

How hight can you make the settings to make it go really really really really fast?

thanks

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Caboose on 04-14-2005 at 05:29 PM

I wouldn't set them too high or you'll hammer the server. Here's what I have:

network.http.max-connections - 48 (default 24)
network.http.max-connections-per-server - 24 (default 8)
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy - 12 (default 4)
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server - 6 (default 2)
network.http.pipelining - true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests - 8 (default 4)
network.http.proxy.pipelining - true

And for a little more rendering speed, right-click anywhere and select New > Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set the value to 0. This changes the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves :)

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Caboose on 04-15-2005 at 06:52 AM

Meh, I don't really notice much difference either... just thought I'd pitch in :P

Besides, I think it's better to have it tweaked, just in case... something... does... something else... :S :dodgy:

I installed the patch.
http://members.optusnet.com.au/trewman/Firefox_Patcher.zip

Downloaded Tweak Network Settings
http://www.bitstorm.org/extensions/
(basically same as typing about:config but easier)

Settings:
max connections [48]
max connections per server [24]
max persistent connections per server [16]
max persistent connections per-proxy [16]
pipelining [tick]
proxy pipelining [tick]
pipelining maxrequests [8]

And thats about it. :)

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Purity on 04-16-2005 at 12:56 AM

Oh really? I would have never known!?

PS: Your double posting. ;)

I personally don't use firefox, I never really heard of it till like last summer, but I was already use to using Maxthon so I said screw it. :)

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by steVenB on 04-16-2005 at 02:04 AM

Thanks for the help. I just installed the patch and going to experience faster browsing!

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Chris4 on 04-16-2005 at 04:09 AM

I han't even had FireFox for a week yet and I can already tell it's much better then IE. I wish the tabs were easier to use though, so I don't have to open lodes of windows like IE. But never mind :)

You can set these values higher.

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by Chris4 on 04-16-2005 at 08:16 PM

If you go on Tweak Network Settings ad click on Power, it reccomends them, but they are lower then in that picture.

So I put changed the settings so they are inbetween the settings in the picture and what the program reccomends.

RE: Make Firefox FASTER! by .Roy on 04-16-2005 at 08:19 PM

its not always good to make it to high. It might actually make it worse because so much connections are being made :D
