bust those adware installers by zaidgs on 12-01-2004 at 05:32 PM

today as i installed messenger discovery 2.6.2 on a newly sp2 windows,
when the setup launched internet explorer to tell me that:
"messenger discovery has been installed successfully", the new internet
explorer add-on manager warned me that the page is trying to install
180search assistant !!!
also, i noticed that this 180search assistant is installed after using
the ce.dp.manager provided by sherv.
if anyone knows more about this subject, please share....

the ce dp stealer has bundled adware in it which isn't optional, but I haven't heard about Messenger Discovery Having it.. For this, I'm sure that using a spyware/adware removal program should do the trick, but try uninstalling both of the programs first.

luckily, i dont have 180 search assistant installed, cuz i dont use
ce.dp.manager (anymore), and also because the new add-on manager
protected me from messenger discovery downloading  that
adware. i just thought to warn other users from them,
and maybe get more info from people who know more than i do.

in "Emoinstallers As "Unwanted Programs"" I posted:

Most popular CE/DP installers come from sherv.net, also programs like "CE/DP Backup Wizard" comes from sherv.net...

All those are not dodgy software, the software itself is decent, but...
all the programs that come from http://www.sherv.net/ have all some kind of adware in them (180solutions related) regardless of what has been said in the past about this...

You can also read about it in the licenses from each program! So you should be warned before installing them. Also the adware is NOT optional....
To have a CE/DP stealer (from sherv) without adware, take a look at:
"CookieRevised's reply to Non-Spyware CE/DP stealer/exporter"

Also, to uninstall 180searchassistent you don't need those anti adware/spyware programs at all. Simply uninstall the assistant from add/remove programs (again, this is the normal logic way of uninstalling a program). Also see: http://www.180searchassistant.com/uninstall.html

not without searching one. I don't have link here for one. But I'm sure they exist. Try searching http://www.mess.be/ or http://www.scito.nl/

I appologise for the adware thing, it was only a trial and we will be removing it soon.

That's true. MessengerDiscovery never used to have the adware thing and there was no point in changing the whole site just for a 24 hour trial. Now however MessengerDiscovery includes an optional sponsor so certian texts have been changed :).
