I think chk files are just memory dumps created when you run scandisk after a wrong shut down. I don't think they contain useful stuff...

I Think chk Files Are Your System Memory's Dump Files. When ScanDisk Finds An Error It Tries To Repair It And In Doing So It Makes A Kinda Temporary Backup.
So I dont Think You Can Remove Data Out Of It Cause If It Were Possible Then Why Didn't Windows Remove It ???
If You Understand It Better Than I Do Then Pm Me To Correct Me.

.chk files are created when the file structure on the drive is invalid when Windows Error Checking is run or when the drive itself contains errors where the files are located. The programs can simply read what the previous extension was and rename it.
