Nick name/Custom name bug by John on 12-15-2004 at 09:30 AM

In a conversation window, when you type (!N) it should show your contacts nick name right? Even if you have custom names turned on. (I have custom names on in the contact list but not in the conversation windows.)

Example of what it should do if I type "hey (!N)"

quote:
Tim in the hood says:
hey
John (¯`v´¯) Cindy says:
hey Tim in the hood

But it doesn't do this.. This is what it does if I type "hey (!N)"

quote:
Tim in the hood says:
hey
John (¯`v´¯) Cindy says:
hey (Tim)

(Tim is that contacts custom name)

So the bug is that whenever I type (!N) it doesn't show the contacts nick name like I'm sure it should, it shows their cunstom name in brackets.. Which I'm sure it shouldnt do. Also, if I just type !N it shows their custom name (without brackets this time).

Hi, I have the same specs. as you, except for the SS3 plugin and don't have this bug.

Did you try uninstalling SS3 and reproducing this bug?

I have those specs and some more plugins, but it does not happen to me. So i wouldn't think it is SS3. Try reinstalling Plus! and Messenger :).
