Changing Drive Location by .blade// on 12-26-2004 at 06:33 PM

Well I'm going to pull my 120 GB HDD (C:\) to put in my new computer, but for the PC to boot I have to have my 80GB HDD set as C:\. How would I rename it?

Look at madman66's reply to Drive Letter Associations

Indeed, Windows will change the drive name itself. C: will be the drive that booted and the other will be the next available letter.

After that you may change the letters using the partition handler in windows.

If you wanna boot from the 120Gib drive, plug it to the primary master IDE/ATA location.

This doesn't work :-/. neither does what Madman suggested :-/

Can you explain it more clearly, then? I think we both didn't understand what are you trying to achieve? What's to boot, what's to change, etc?

Well the problem is the BIOS looks for 2 HDD when it boots, but since I yanked one it's confused. I just installed a good old 10GB SLAVE HDD to make BIOS happy to fix the prob. :P

Maybe the 120gb and the 80gb both have OS's on them and the
10gb doesnt ?.. That's why it's confused ? lol.
