Does anyone know the origin, meaning, usage, etc of this sign?
You start with a fist, then straighten out your index and little fingers.
Satan's horns, or what? Any URL or explanation are very much welcome!

not getting freaky but i think it mean i luv u

RE: Fingers by Plik on 12-27-2004 at 07:20 PM

It means "Rock On" here.
It basically means cool, or good music or summit like that

RE: Fingers by .blade// on 12-27-2004 at 07:27 PM

It means rather 'Rock On' or 'Peace out' here. It's basicaly a sign like the index and middle finger ("Peace") :P

RE: Fingers by Titty on 12-27-2004 at 07:46 PM

Haha, I watched this thing on Vh1, and it was about Rock music.

I forgot some rocker, but he said his grandma told him that,
when the fingers are pointed towards you: 'i'm watching you'
when the fingers are up like you said: means 'the devil'..

And he did the devil sign in one of his concerts and now everyone
says it's a universal sign for like, 'Rock on'.

RE: Fingers by user27089 on 12-27-2004 at 11:09 PM

it actually has an association with satan, and nothing to do with rock on, it is merely used as an expression for 'rocking' because goths and stuff are into the whole satan scene and stuff, henceforth, doing the sign, and, creating an icon for younger children, believing that it means rock on, and not actually a sign to do with Satan whatsoever, personally, I think that this sign is just completely stupid and useless, its just to do with satan and stuff, and I find all of this completely LUDACRIS...

</rant>

RE: Fingers by Titty on 12-27-2004 at 11:12 PM

Well yes.  I did say the actual meaning from his grandmother
was the devil.

BUT, he used it to mean something else and now it's used to mean that.

Yes, in signs language it means "I love you" or "love".

Here is an example.

Yeah, but in that sign the hand is NOT balled up like a fist. So it's a similar but different sign.
URLs to the balled up one that I described? Anyone??
BTW, thanks traxor for the explanation! (Y)

It means horns but which one? this one: :refuck: or this one: [Image: headbang.gif] ?

RE: Fingers by user27089 on 12-28-2004 at 12:25 AM

the second one, it doesn't mean horns, its a representation of the devil...

RE: Fingers by andrey on 12-28-2004 at 04:22 AM

Ronnie James Dio introduced the raised index and little finger sign to metal world in the 1980s. It was quickly adopted by other metal bands and somewhat identified as "heavy metal sign".
Satanists also use it in their rituals to represents the horned head of the Devil, the Satan and as a sign of recognition between those that are in the occult.

It has a much older and stronger meaning too. For example, in the ancient Egypt, the sign was called the evil-eye sign. It was used for magical protection against the "evil eye". Many of the pharaos, buried in the pyramids, had sculptures guarding them which often showed this sign to guard the pharao and to curse the grave robbers.

The sign also has many other meanings, depending on the culture and region where it is shown. It is refferred to as "The Horned Hand" (Mano Cornuto) by some religious groups.

(Google for "Horned Hand", "Mano Cornuto" and "Evil Eye". Tip: Some Info on the Mano Cornuto (Horned Hand) and the Evil Eye)
