Windows Media Player 9 Error by ayjay on 12-28-2004 at 03:14 PM

Whenever I try to play a CD in Windows Media Player (9.00.00.2980) I get error message 0xC00D11F8 and says it cannot play in digital mode. I try to switch to analog but I can't. I've tried posting on the WMP help thingy on the Microsoft site but the thing they suggested to the other people with this problem didn't work for me. Has anyone else had this problem?

Any help is appreciated. :)

Ok, do other discs work ??? Audio ofcourse. U meant audio rite ??
EDIT: I meant do mp3 discs work ??? but now i know the answer is yes. Also do other audio discs work ??

RE: Windows Media Player 9 Error by ayjay on 12-28-2004 at 03:35 PM

Don't know what exactly you meant to say there :)

It is audio CD's that don't work.
CD-ROMs work fine but they are nothing to do with WMP.

RE: Windows Media Player 9 Error by Mike on 12-28-2004 at 03:36 PM

Why don't you use another media player?
Like winamp? :)

RE: Windows Media Player 9 Error by John Anderton on 12-28-2004 at 03:42 PM

If all audio discs dont work then there's a prob mabbe with software. is your cdrom old ?? If only that disc doesnt wotk then i think the discs gone bad. I'll edit this post as i get more info.
EDIT: Go here http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html#0xc00d11f8

I do use Winamp, but I want to rip my CD to my MP3 player and to do that in Winamp you need to buy Winamp Pro, which I don't want to do.

Thanks everyone for your help :)

Did u try this ??

quote:
Q: Why am I getting error 0xc00d11f8 - "Windows Media Player encountered an error when reading the CD-ROM drive in digital mode. You can try to use digital mode again, or you can switch the Player to analog mode."?
A: You need to go to the player's Tools:Options:Devices menu option, select the Properties for that drive and change to use Analog mode. If that doesn't work, read on...

I think u tried that so try this ->
quote:
You probably would be well served by doing a system restore back to an earlier date before you had all these problems, corrupted files.
Start/Programs/Accessories/System tools/System Restore.

I've heard that "DVD Region Killer" caused this problem for one person. They ran System Restore to get help get rid of it, and then things worked fine again.

I got the last one from here

Btw this is a problem predominantly seen in win me. I hate that os :@ I think win 98 is better but win xp is the best :P
Still doing research though

RE: Windows Media Player 9 Error by John Anderton on 12-29-2004 at 11:55 AM

RE: Windows Media Player 9 Error by ayjay on 12-29-2004 at 11:58 AM

RE: Windows Media Player 9 Error by ayjay on 12-29-2004 at 03:58 PM

Thanks everyone for your help, but it's sorted now ;)

RE: Windows Media Player 9 Error by mad_onion on 12-29-2004 at 09:33 PM

i glad your problem is sorted how did you fix it?
also it really annoys me that people just reply to these threads where someone is having a problem with a microsoft product where there is a similar free product avaliable with the phrase "just use <insert name of most popular competing software here>"

that doesn't solve the problem and it is a waste of space.

RE: Windows Media Player 9 Error by ayjay on 12-29-2004 at 10:01 PM

Just gave up in the end and decided to buy Winamp Pro :P

Thanks everyone.
