PROBLEM WITH DP/BACKGROUND by joey_milan_89 on 12-30-2004 at 04:29 PM

hi everytime i sign in i have no dp n when i put a dp and then want to add another one it doesnt stay saved so i have to keep looking for it on my desktop etc.

Also my background doesnt stay with the picture i want it shows up white all the time. It never used to do this now it does.

I think msn is restarting or rebooting and not saving my settings everytime can someone help me on this? thx

goto tools-> options -> then the privacy tab

untick the box, 'this is a shared computer please do not store my dp....'

then
add a display picture, choose your lovely new background

then go to file, signout

sign back in to see your settings finally applied

I hope the following solution works.

Go to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\number, with Username being your Windows username and number the number that symbolises your email address. Clicking Start > Run and typing %appdata%\Microsoft\MSN Messenger should show the folder that contains the numbered folders right away.

To find out what number matches your email address, download http://shoutbox.menthix.net/attachment.php?pid=291329 and enter your email address. Clicking Generate will show the number.

Go there and delete the folder called UserTile and delete the folder called Backgrounds. Reboot and add your display pictures again; your problem should be fixed.
