what does 64bit mean? when the athlon 64 came out i was just thinking wow 64 bit, never actually questioned what id did. now windows xp 64-bit edition is out, i just wannna know what the difference will be between this and normal xp.

Firstly, It's 64-bit edition public beta.
2nd, the 64-bit processor can do math faster, and to higher number so it makes programs run a lot faster :drool:

My AMD Athlon 64 3500+ arrives tomorrow :drool:

i know 64it porecessors are much better and are somekind of new generation coz all the other are 32 bits processors but.. i really dont know anything m,ore i would love to know more also..

Why's it called 64 bit anyway, is 64-bit a counting system, like another name for mod-64.just like 1-bit and mod-1 mean binary. and 16-bit means hex.

i think i'm getting super confused, and forget what u've read if u don't want to join me.

I think its like how many bits the prosessor prosesses in so long of a time.

16 bit - Slowest
32 bit - Faster
64 bit - Fastest
