FireFox not working.. by leito on 01-08-2005 at 02:59 AM

Ok, my FireFox is not working good. I have found two problems. The first one, when I run (from a Shorcut, placed on Quick Launch) FireFox won't open. I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del, End Process, try again, and it works. When I close the browser, sometimes, the process firefox.exe won't finish. When I access vía (M) to my Inbox and firefox.exe is not running, I allways work good.

The second problem, I can't open popups, manually or automatically, It just seems FireFox doesn't understand that javascript. I can't report threads in this Forums (cuz the link pops a window), I can't view the popups I made on my sites, etc.

That's all, I try to uninstall every software and firefox's extensions I install in the past days, but nothing happen. I reinstalled Firefox, still nothing happen.

I've had those problems before... Are you using the Tabbrowser extension? It's known for causing trouble. What other extensions do you have?
Try a full uninstall (see below), reinstall it and be careful with which extensions you install.

To uninstall Firefox completely, do the following:
- Uninstall Firefox from Add/remove programs.
- Remove the folder in which it was installed.
- If you're using Windows 2000/XP, go to Start > Run, write "%appdata%" and press Enter.
- If you're using Windows 9x, go to Start > Run, write "C:\WINDOWS\Application Data" and press Enter (change C: with your Windows drive, of course),
- Delete or rename the Mozilla folder.
- Now you can reinstall Firefox.

an easier way would of been to make a new profile by starting firefox with the command line

code:
-profilemanager

then deleating your old profile and creating a new one

Yes, and then if it still fails you can use the method I posted above.
