To make another partition on an existing drive, right click on My Computer and select 'Manage'. In the 'Computer Management' window, under 'Storage', click 'Disk Management'. Given your current partition doesn't take up the entire hard drive, you can right click on the 'Unallocated space' part and choose 'Format', or something like that. If you don't see 'Unallocated space', your current partition most likely takes up the entire hard drive, therefore you cannot split it unless you reformat your disk and make a new partition that takes up about half, then make another partition on the other half, then assign it drive letters by right clicking on it and choosing 'Change Drive Letter and Paths'.

If you want more space, though, I would suggest you just buy another hard drive :S

But if the space is allocated ie no unallocated space then u can try ur hand at partition magic but let me warn u Do this at your own risk. Ppl have lost their os's due to this.
Try to avoid doing something. I personally would like to make my d drive a bit smaller and my c drive a bit larger like free space transfer or something. I tried a lot but cant find anything. So i guess no way to do that either !!

Many people are making partitions of their hard drives so when you restore your hard drive (like with a restore disk ect.) only one partition is effected. For example I have a restore disk, which will pretty much wipe the bulk of files from my C:\, but I have a partition called D:\ where documents, media and the like are stored...It's popularity seems to have increased in the past few years among many computer users, and it is a very good solution to run less of a risk of loosing data. That may be one reason why...However he may just want to practise creating partitions...

I have read online that for ppl having win xp and all it doesn't work ie the transfer or dividing of the drive. For most ppl with 98 (Fat 32 base) works but for 99% ppl with win xp (NTFS base) it doesn't. Now dont ask me bout ppl having xp and fat 32 base cause i dont know but think i it wont work ;)
