Will I not be able to copy it with Nero?

If you also have Nero Vision, you will not need to encode it. It will do it automatically when you Burn the DVD

I have the full nero suite so I just use nero and that's it and that should be just fine with using dvdshrink or dvddecripter?

Is it a copy protected DVD (e.g. a DVD you can rent/buy)?

Then it most likely will have copy protection. You need to use DVD Decryptor to decrypt the data and copy it to your hard drive, then, depending on the size of the DVD, you may or may not have to use DVD Shrink. If the DVD is equal to or under 4.3 GB (I understand that the DVD-+ R's say 4.7 GB, when it's converted to proper Windows sizes (1,024 MB = 1GB) it's approx. 4.3 GB), you don't need to use DVD Shrink to shrink the files, only to burn the DVD, maybe not even that.
