The processor calculations thread. by .blade// on 01-10-2005 at 07:28 PM

A while ago Cookie posted a program to test how fast your processor could do math. I wanted to see how my new 64-bit processor did in this test. Anyone know where this program is? (I can't find the thread :dodgy:)

I have deleted the thread because people couldn't stop spamming the thread with useless comments and I was seriously fed up with it...

PI-calculating program: ftp://pi.super-computing.org/windows/super_pi.zip
or at mirror: http://users.pandora.be/ea/super_pi.zip
(note: this shows how fast your pc is in calculation, nothing more. So, for example your graphics card doesn't have any influence on this. It is well possible that your PC, compared to others is slower/faster in other things)

PC specs can be viewed with freeware programs like CPU-Z

I know that :P

Anyways, I did the calculation to 16K and1M on my Athlon 64 3500+ at 2.42ghz. c

Calculations to 16K completed in under 1s
Calculations to 1M completed in 40s

My Intel Pentium II 233 mhZ computer beats you:P

16k: 05s
1M: 12 m 18 s

erm mike, I don't see how 5 seconds is beating 1 second or 12 minutes beating 40 seconds...

Pentium 4 - 2.0 GHz

16k:  under 00s
1M: 1 m 10 s

Does the amount and load of the processes currently running, affect the result?

Unless the processes dont use the processor... which would be strange :p

16K < 00s
1M   1 minute 23..... *ahem* too many things running.... i think.... hope

I still have a copy of that deleted thread. Maybe I'll recreate the thread again, dunno, but like in other threads of that kind (introduction thread, other "listing" threads, etc...) spamming/chitchatting will not be allowed...

We could set up a closed thread where your processor time has to be PMd to a MOD who ads it to the 1 post...

or we could trust people to follow the rules
:deal:

I think they rather want to delete the occasional spam/chitchat then continuously edit the thread though....
