Also have a look at Ink/Handwriting Plugin Everything you need to know right here.

If you use MSN 7 Beta you don't need the complete handwriting plugin (it's already built in), but if it doesn't work you will need to install:

Ink redist (when asked during installation to install for "all" or "just you", choose "all")

or

Windows Journal Viewer (req: Win 2000 SP2 or Win XP)

The Windows Journal Viewer has serious security issues (this could allow an attacker to compromise a computer running Windows Journal Viewer 1.5 and gain complete control over it)

Therefor, you MUST install the additional fix (req: Win 2000 SP3, Win 2000 SP4) for this.

I have not found an additional fix for Win XP (i tried this one but it doesn't seem to do anything on Win XP), also the page about the security issue did not mention wich OS'es are affected. Anyways after you installed the Journal Viewer and do a windowsupdate (do this frequently), windowsupdate should display those neccesary updates.
