Sounder. by Mike on 01-15-2005 at 12:52 PM

Hello.

I made a plugin that plays any sound you choose (the sound you choose must be lower than 200 KBs).
The plugin is very buggy, but if you can, give it a try?
Please report bugs, feedback etc.

Thank you for trying Sounder! :)

Edit: Released a new version with the add sound bug hopefully.
Look a bit below for the new release.

Hang on does this add sounds you can send to conatcts....I am confused what does it do?

RE: Sounder. by Mike on 01-15-2005 at 12:58 PM

Ok.
You have a wav or an mp3 file lower that 200 KBs.
You add this sound file to your sound database.
Then you type "/xsounderplay + {sound command}" (you specify "sound command" when adding a sound).
If your contact has the plugin installed (not the sound in his system) your contact will hear the sound. :)

Thats quite nice :)

I'm guessing the other contact needs that plugin for them too hear it right?

Mike 2 when I tried to configure the sounder to add a sound I got a runtime error and now I can't configure to come up again. I am using Plus! 3.40.112 & Msn 7.0.045 with these plug-ins instaled : SPNG Alpha SS3 and the new Plus! tab.

What did the error say?

Did it say something about modal forms or did it say "Path not found" ?

RE: Sounder. by _Humphreys on 01-15-2005 at 01:36 PM

Oh yeah and I have MD v 2.6.2 (2624) installed. The error was number 75 path/file access error.

Hmmmmm....
Can you try this version?
Its made for debugging...

To use it, close messenger delete the old dll file and then put the attached dll in your plugins folder, register it and start messenger.
Where do the errors appear?
It should give you some details...

Edit: Version for debugging removed since there is an error handler in the new version that says you where the error happened.
Look below for a new version.

Hello.

First of all, sorry for the double post.

Anyway, I tried to fix the "add sound" bug, and it seems that the bug is fixed.
I tried with Jeffery and it seems that the plugin is working.

I also added some new things:
1) Added /xsounderstop . When you type this command, the sound currently playing will stop playing.
2) Added sound command list. To show it type /xsounderplay and it will bring up a list with the sounds commands. Note that this feature is buggy.

Note1: Please wait a little after adding a sound.
Note2: If you get an error while installing on line 210, delete or rename the folder called "My Sounds". If you want to install a version newer than this, then you will also have to delete/rename the folder called "My Contact's Sounds"
These two folders can be found on your plugins directory.

Sorry I haven't had time to try the new version...i'll try it today.

Finally a sound-plugin where just /me needs to have the sounds :cheesy:
This audiator-soundpack-sending got on my nerves seriously :dodgy:
But: is it possible to add support for midi files (i guess not) ?

How does this actually work ? I though there was no way to play sound files remotely on your contacts computer without the other person having them ?
