I'm sure most of you are currently using MSN Messenger 7.0 Beta, which seems like it will turn out to be good when the final version is released. I recently downloaded it, but since then my computer has had a ton of problems. Theres a wierd toolbar with airplane ticket links, casino links, and many other things on it, under my favorites there are a few items I cannot remove that I didnt put there, and my computer has been running much slower. Has anyone else had problems happen with there computer right after installing MSN 7.0 beta?*-)

Ehmm no, just read what it installs when you are installing. MSN installs some things wich are checked by default, uncheck em before you proceed installing ;)

Uninstalling, reboot and reinstalling should solve it (only this time uncheck those items).

You probably installed the Messenger Plus! sponsor.
Please look here to see how to remove it :)
How to uninstall ad-ware/sponsor

Could be, but i don't think so. Iamville didn't mention installing Plus! at all. MSN also installs a toolbar (and a few other things), it is checked by default when you run the installer.

He told something about casino and plane tickets..... MSN Toolbar doesn't contain stuff like that.

Iamvile.. if you have Msgplus installed, check How to uninstall ad-ware/sponsor. Otherwise, download Ad-Aware SE and run a full system scan.

I'm trying to think of a better way to explain it.... i'm sure everyone has seen or gotten those annoying tool bars before at the top of there IE, that have like sex ads and such on them. Well after I installed 7.0, one of those kinds of bars started coming up at the bottom whenever I would open my IE. And i've ran Ad-Aware several times thinking that would solve the problem, but it can't seem to catch it. My Msg Plus! wasnt installed with 7.0 at the time... so I dont know what else the problem might be...:S

Then it's not MsgPlus!'s sponsor (since it doesn't have sex ads).
[edit] well, you did have the sponsor, after all. But those ads were actually there? Or you were giving examples? :s [/edit]

Where did you get MSN Messenger 7 BETA from?
RE: Curious About Something by Iamvile on 01-23-2005 at 09:33 PM

No, its not the MSN toolbar, cause I already have that. I got the 7.0 beta download from msn.com, really wouldn't trust getting it from anywhere else.

Did you install anything else at the same time as installing messenger?
Because this doesnt appear to be related to the installation of messenger.

RE: Curious About Something by Sunshine on 01-23-2005 at 09:40 PM

As you said Plus! wasn't installed at that time so it can't be the sponsor. I still somehow think it's the MSN Messenger one..but it could have come with anything really (new software...a wrong click somewhere on the net...who knows).

Try this: http://lop.com/new_uninstall.exe

Keep your internetbrowser closed (full exit) when you are running it, prob should be solved afterwards ;)

Why don't you post a screenshot so we can see what the toolbar looks like? If we can see it, maybe one of us will recognize it.

RE: Curious About Something by Iamvile on 01-23-2005 at 10:12 PM

Ok, how do I take a screen shot?

RE: Curious About Something by Plik on 01-23-2005 at 10:15 PM

Press the printscreen key on your keyboard then open an image edting program (such as paint) and paste the image in there, then save it and attach it to a post.

RE: Curious About Something by Iamvile on 01-23-2005 at 10:36 PM

Heres the toolbar i've been talking about. It had to get cut down a little bit because the forums wouldn't let me post the whole snapshot...

RE: Curious About Something by Guido on 01-23-2005 at 10:43 PM

That's Messenger Plus!'s sponsor program; you installed it by mistake. Check this thread to see how to remove it.

Finally! Its gone! thanks to all of you who took the time to try and help. :)
