wrist bands by saralk on 01-23-2005 at 01:41 PM

at our school the new craze is wrist bands, it started a few months ago, but has now reached new heights, everyone has got loads of bands on their wrists.

I've had them on for about a year now, most of them I had on because they were religious (well i just used the fact that they were religious as an excuse to stop teachers making me take them off!).

I just wanted to know if these bands are a craze at your school?

RE: wrist bands by Ezra on 01-23-2005 at 01:45 PM

U mean the Livestrong wrists?

RE: wrist bands by saralk on 01-23-2005 at 01:46 PM

RE: wrist bands by J.J on 01-23-2005 at 01:47 PM

to tell you the truth, i was the first one wearing them at my school, i started wearing them for sport periods...

It only took a couple of weeks before several people had them on :dodgy:

they do seem to be in fasion, but people will get over em soon :P

RE: wrist bands by saralk on 01-23-2005 at 01:48 PM

yeah same here, i got all the red ones when i went to india last year, and ive had them on since.

RE: wrist bands by TheBlasphemer on 01-23-2005 at 01:55 PM

I got a livestrong one,
not because I wanna join in on the hype,
but a friend of me survived cancer, and I wear it to show my support to him :)

RE: wrist bands by ayjay on 01-23-2005 at 02:52 PM

This definately seems to be a craze. You can hardly see one person at school's arm he has so many lol.

RE: wrist bands by user27089 on 01-23-2005 at 02:56 PM

RE: wrist bands by ayjay on 01-23-2005 at 03:02 PM

a lotta ppl r wearing them too i just stick with my huge cuff watch and studded cuffs

RE: wrist bands by Ginger on 01-24-2005 at 02:21 AM

I only know about 3 people with them, they dont seem that popular at my school but what does seem EVERYWHERE is those damn chinese slippers from the dollar store god those drive me crazy

Ok just had to edit after seein the posts about the rubber bracelets.  Back in the eight, ninth grade (im in 12 now) i wore them and now theyre everywhere all over again and the dumbest thing about it is that people still play those stupid sex games with them and for that the bracelets are confiscated, makes me want to scream

I like wearing smart clothes aswell, I usually wear some nice jeans, a nice t-shirt and a long chord jacket thing... and sometimes when I'm not going to fuck about somewhere... I wear my Prada shirts...

snoochie boochies...

'Fads' don't generally just come from one area, to be honest, they usually spread like wild-fire throughout the whole world, think about it, if it started in Britain, there are like 12mil people in Britain, a load of them go on holiday, the majority follow the trends, they go to different countries, people over there see what they where, find it cool or whatever, so they find out where they get their clothing from etc. Works the same way afaik :p.

yeh... there was a time when everyone had some :-/ so annoying tbh. I have some myself.. had them for ages though. I cant be bothered putting them on all the time so I dont bother at all anymore. Some assholes broke em saying "you owe me sex.." like yeah right.. then you'd have other guys saying "are we gonna have sex if I break one?" of course I say no... people dont bother about them anymore.

Those wrist bands arent very popular at my school.. not yet but i'm sure it'll happen..

RE: wrist bands by hmaster on 03-09-2005 at 09:14 PM

livestrong was way b4 dat, it was b4 olympics :P didnt u see the sports people wearing dem :P

RE: wrist bands by aNILEator on 03-09-2005 at 09:59 PM

yeah everyone at my school has them bracelet/wristbands blue ones white ones yellow ones and pink ones mainly.

I however do not see the point in them, i donate quite a bit to charity all year around, and i don't see why i should get a wristband for it I'd rather see the money i donate go fully towards research or care, rather than half to some company who make the bands a quarter to somone else and the other quarter going towards the charity.

As some of you may know my mother died of breast cancer, from family and friend donations we managed to raise enough money to buy a new high tech machine for a new breast care treatment ward at the hospital she was treated in.

To me that is better than some shoddy wristband, i'm not getting anything out of it i'm quite happy, i feel donations should be donations not a trade basically.

RE: wrist bands by Tasha on 03-09-2005 at 10:04 PM

Yea, we have these wristbands thingys at school.. No way am I paying £2.50 for a wrist band that i'll never wear, even if it is for charity..

And I have other reasons for not donating to cancer research..

RE: wrist bands by King For A Day on 03-09-2005 at 10:17 PM

god they are anoying, there are so many, i hate them personally, but i know a girl in my school who paid about ten pounds for two!!!! on ebay.

i sometimes wear little "shag bands" but not often.

i pretty much wear two sweatbands each day tho or some beady braclet thingies that someone bought me.

our school has gone all ruly kinda thing tho and this week they made a new rule that you can wear one band only and a watch, any other jewlery gets confiscated,

theyve gone realy up on uniform recently, in fact the head teacher was so botherd about trying to confiscate my black and red sweatbands she didnt notice my bright red trainers that ive had on all week :P
