Can the screen be burnt into an LCD?

RE: Ups and downs of LCD? by Re-Mi on 01-25-2005 at 11:27 PM

no it defenetly can not burn in that's a big plus for lcd i used to sell lcd and plasma tv's the negative thing on a lcd (tv) is that the pictures are nice if you vieuw them from a distance but from upclose you can see the cristals if it's for your computer monitor than its no prob. it's an other resolution you can leave your lcd screen 24/7 on one and the same image and it will not burn itn because it isn't projected just as a normal screen there are little cristals that will collor up when they are charged with electricity.. an other negative thing is already mentioned ithe vieuwing point is just al small radius... but on the good side a lcd last about three times longer than any other tv or monitor ( atleast if they are similair quality).
just remember this if the electronics behind the cristals couldn't wear out  the lcd would go for a life time .

[edit] please don't mind my bad english in realy tired and english isn't my mother language)

best LCD screens are the ones with Anoalogue/digital ones,   but i think there somewhat better than the CRT monitors out there, to Big an ugly :)

well i cant comment on a Imax screen :) .. never seen one , well thats a lie, i have but i never really sat down to watch sokething on one,  but yeah anything Imax or even a Huge Digital Screen would make a LCD look like crap :)

i like lcds simply because there smaller and there easier on the eyes. most of them have an auto adjust so you can use the entire visable screen. on a crt the viewable area is about 1 inch less than the marketded size.

RE: Ups and downs of LCD? by Pyroteq on 01-26-2005 at 03:44 AM

ive got a 17"LCD and a 17" CRT, Th "not viewable from all angles" is only for really acute angles where you wouldnt want to be watching it..

One thing no one mentioned was that LCD's have a lower refresh rate than CRT's - therefore its worse if your a hardcore gamer, but having them next to each other i can say i cant tell the difference..

RE: Ups and downs of LCD? by Purity on 01-26-2005 at 03:49 AM

How do we find out how many seconds or milliseconds our LCD is?

RE: Ups and downs of LCD? by Jhrono on 01-27-2005 at 06:44 PM

good question...go to google and make a search 4 the model...then look for anything in miliseconds:P...mine as a label in the top right corner saying 12 MS eheh:P...

Edit: btw that number in miliseconds is the time is takes the screen to show the image...

RE: Ups and downs of LCD? by user35870 on 01-27-2005 at 07:05 PM

i have a medion md7475ac 15"

all i can say is its  crap about 2 pixils are dead and its only 6 months old and the pixils sometimes need to be auto set again

RE: Ups and downs of LCD? by saralk on 01-27-2005 at 07:48 PM

with the viewing angle, if you get a decent monitor, then there will be no problem with viewing angles, i have a Sony TFT, and they are amazing, the clarity is superb and the only problems are that it can get slightly darker and lighter if you view from above or below, but side to side is perfect.

RE: Ups and downs of LCD? by fluffy_lobster on 01-27-2005 at 08:27 PM

As well as for viewing angles, you should avoid cheap-end tfts because of dead pixels (the one i first got came with one out of the box) and also the phase can tend to come out of synch between heating up and cooling down when turning on and off - resulting in flickery/juddery text, which although you might be able to adjust away, will then have to readjust once it's been on for a while.

also bear in mind that perfect colour representation is less guaranteed because of the colour distortion connected with viewing from different angles.
