I had a majorly kool idea this morning, i was looking at the contact details from Messenger Plus! seeing when a friend was last online, and then when they signed out /  changed status etc then thought bingo!

Information from each contacts status changes, login / logouts, how long they are in away / brb mode, number of sign ins etc... should be recorded and displayed in a graph showing which of ur contacts spend most time online, who spends the most time in away etc as graphs.

This could also include filters, say only show people from Family group, or only show people from Friends & Enemies groups. I think it would be something similar to Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables.

Well if anyone is up to the challenge i think this would be a great addition to Messenger Plus!

This is a very intereseting idea, even if it's only done for your own Messenger habits.

I remember there was an old program for Messenger 4.x (Arcane Light Messenger Tools IIRC) which showed you this kind of stats for yourself, and I think it has been requested for Plus! but ages ago.

It can probably be done via plugins, so go ahead coders!

sounds good but the name of this thead is very blunt almost sounds like u want to install spyware on ur contacts to "moniter youre contacts internet habits" but the messenger stats would be sweet

nice idea... but it could be possible wen u r online.. or can say that the contact in ur list in only inspected only that time when u r also online...... just like the feature in msngplus! "event log" ... i like this idea but if it is not depended on ur own msn status...(signout) then it will be better....

well its more like the statistics of your friends being online/away/busy etc when YOUR online

if ppl wriite a list of what sort of stats theyd like to see, i might start something if i get some time

Time spent in each status such as Online: 3h 42m Out to lunch: 0h 34m Away: 7h 47m etc...

Time that the status's change

Sign in and sign out times

Counts on how many times they sign in / out... how many times they switch to each status (as they click away, add 1 to the count)

also it should record yourself... and graph the results showing yourself compared to your friends.

Obviously it will start small and over time get bigger and better with more advanced graphing and filtering but it would be a popular plugin as we have seen from the votes

There was a plugin that done this. I heard about the day i joined msgplus fourms.

This seems like a really good idea and i can't wait for someone to actually make it into a plugin as i think i could have a lot of use out of this.

Did anyone get very far with this project?

I did something like this using excel, but never as a plugin. I have no idea how to write plugins and mine was just to graph usage so I could see when was the best time of day t catch my clients online.
